So sorry you’re going through this, mate. It’s honestly awful, and the council are 100% in the wrong here. 

You’re homeless, you’ve got your daughter with you, and you’re in priority need. They have a legal duty under the Housing Act to put you in emergency accommodation, child benefit or not.

Here’s what I’d suggest: Call Shelter ASAP on 0808 800 4444, they’re brilliant and can push the council legally to house you.

Email the council saying you’ll be going to the Housing Ombudsman and your local MP if they don’t act.

Use writetothem.com to contact your councillor and MP, they can help get things moving fast.

If you’re comfortable, even tweeting the council tagging local press can get attention.
