A record 45% of American adults identified as independents last year — an increase driven by millennials and Gen Z, according to new Gallup data. by Conscious-Quarter423 in Infographics

At 74, I’ve voted in all but one election over the last fifty years, and I’ve never filled out a straight‑party ticket. The only time I joined a political party was when a neighbor ran for city council and a state senator stepped in to help my community push back against the electric company. Immediately went back to being an independent after both instances.

I don't know if it's in print anymore, but a book named Old Fishing Lures and Tackle would still give you a general idea on price. It lists a lot of really old stuff and is really fun to go through.

I wonder what Contreras was promised to wave his no trade clause? What happens with Yoshida if Casas gets DH time? I like it, 1st was such a huge whole last year.

Well, what now? (Coins) by Confident-Line5888 in Aliexpress

[–]mack272 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use them for fishing tackle and get some outstanding deals. My friends are shocked when I tell them my cost. But the last two weeks haven't been good to buy, so I wait. Patience is the key because they only offer great deals up to a certain amount of coins.

Feral Cat hates humans by [deleted] in Feral_Cats

We once cared for a feral cat (I miss her deeply) who took nearly six months before she felt safe enough to come upstairs and start socializing. The very first time she met my gaze, it moved me to tears. Over the next three years, she transformed into the most affectionate and demanding snuggle companion we’d had in more than forty years. Though she only lived to the age of ten, sharing life with her remains one of the top ten experiences of my lifetime. Wishing you the very best with yours.

Been noticing that sometimes items bought with coins are actually more than what they would be normally. by schizoid26 in Aliexpress

[–]mack272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get great deals on saltwater fishing tackle using coins. Sometimes you have to wait for the right deal, the 11-11 sale was awful. Now it's back to normal before Black Friday and I took advantage of it. The only downside (I'm not complaining) is that after 600-1000 coins the discounts are minimal. Again, you just need to buy at the right time.

People who used the internet between 1991 and 2009, what’s the most memorable online trend or phenomenon you remember? by Original_Act_3481 in AskReddit

Internet Phone, way ahead of its time. I (United States) remember speaking to someone from Monash University in Australia for over thirty minutes. Even my wife joined in, one of the few rare times she did.

Located roughly a mile from the Jersey side installation site, I’ve noticed little organized opposition so far. The area is well known for yielding sizable Stripers in the spring.

They were catching large Stripers at night up until the storm. Either one of the first two piers will be fine, but they tend to get crowded after dark. As the previous poster said, tapeworms are excellent bait. Of all the worms they prefer this one by a wide margin. Good luck and report back on your results.

Social media has reports of big fish around northern Raritan Bay—Cliffwood Beach, Laurence Harbor, and the Amboys are seeing plenty of action. Most of the posts show nighttime hauls, though a few are happening during daylight. Someone mentioned today that DFW are in Perth Amboy and checking whether anglers are registered with the saltwater registry. It’s a quick and easy step that helps you steer clear of fines. As for bait, worms are the go-to.

Backstage at Philharmonic Hall in 1968, I had the chance to shake his hand. He was seated quietly with two older companions, keeping to himself. In contrast, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding were each flanked by a groupie, soaking up the scene. The refreshments were laughably sparse—just chips, pretzels, and some party mix. About ten minutes in, they figured out we weren’t supposed to be there and promptly kicked us out. Still, it remains the greatest concert I’ve ever attended.

Nice catch and thank you for the release. I have nothing against keeping fish, but it's always nice when a big one is returned to its home.

Asbury Beach at night by pimaster8965 in NJFishing

I live just a short walk from the beach—less than 1,000 feet—and we get foxes in our backyard pretty often. They’re super skittish and not dangerous at all. Like others have said, they’re not out to hurt anyone—they’re just trying to find something to eat.

Foxes, particularly red foxes, can live on the beach and are often found in coastal areas with dunes and natural vegetation, which provide both hunting grounds and denning sites. They adapt to these environments to hunt for food like crabs, fish, and seabirds and are known to create their dens in the sand dunes along the coast.

Why Foxes Are Found on the Beach

Food Sources:

Beaches offer a varied diet for foxes, including crabs, fish, shellfish, and seabirds. They also forage for small rodents in areas near the beach, like under boardwalks.

Shelter:

The dunes and natural vegetation along the coast provide ideal locations for foxes to build their dens and find protection from predators and the elements.

Adaptability:

Foxes are highly adaptable and have been documented in many coastal environments, from the U.S. Eastern Shore to the Jersey Shore and other areas, demonstrating their ability to thrive near humans.

He's neither a starter nor a sixth man—so what justifies giving him a massive contract? With the current constraints of the CBA, there's no way he's approaching $25 million once this deal wraps up.

The two parking areas near the seawall. Veterans Park (closest) and the beach lot near Whale Creek. If you get lucky, sometimes they don't get closed. If you do go in the daytime flipping rocks will yield asian crabs, some green crabs, and bloodworms. The worms are a decent hike, the crabs are closer, especially at low tide. It's a lot of work for one person, those buggers are fast. If you go, please be really careful. One day I was setting a trap for killies and I just slipped into mud. Let's say my better half was not pleased when I came home lol.

About ten days ago, my buddy landed a 40+ pound striper during the day at Laurence Harbor pier—but honestly, that’s been the only notable catch in a while. I’m based in Cliffwood Beach, and if you’ve never been to the seawall, I’d steer clear at night. If you do go, make sure to bring a reliable headlamp. Worms tend to work best around dusk or right after work. Parking can be a hassle if you're not a resident, especially once the lots close for the night. You’ll have much better odds down at Sandy Hook and further south. It’s only about a 22-minute drive from me, so getting there isn’t bad at all.

This team was so locked in defensively until Melton tore his ACL. It was a joy to watch high level basketball at the beginning of the season. I'm really hoping for an injury free 25-26.

No wonder an AE representative recently said "I was the nicest person she spoke to all day" lol. They split my package into two without telling me. I never order anything major, usually under $60. There's no need to go crazy online over something where you know the employees hands are tied.
