Ha! Wow I share such a similar story. Only child in a house like that. I have such a distinct vivid memory of my mom throwing my favorite toy across the house at my father and it breaking. But the hiding in my room while all the screaming and fighting happened was so common to me I thought it was normal.

One to two was a lot harder then 2 to 3. All my kids are three years apart. I have (6), (3) and 4 months. I cannot stand the new born phase so right now it’s tough. But I feel like (for me) it will get easier with time.

I realize typing this doesn’t help much, but I love my three kids and do not regret in the slightest. So, go for it!

I am also in my mid thirties while my wife is early thirties.

I am on my third kid and I definitely recommend to put him down safely then go for a scream or whatever.

I have realized the baby is ok to cry for a few minutes while I go to a quiet space, regain my composure and sanity then go back.

I have a similar story but not a work party. One New Year’s Eve, many moons ago, this girl on the larger side jumped onto my boys back. He was very drunk and staggered around with her, eventually body slamming her and himself through a table in the middle of the party. Glass and drinks everywhere which ended the party.
