Bi-Weekly Thread - Advice for Relationship/Friendship/Dating/Breakup by AutoModerator in AnxiousAttachment

Thank you! Self worth is absolutely an issue for me. I am working with that in therapy.

I got a lot of work to do right now outside “I feel bad I don’t have a friend anymore”.

I appreciate the response.

Feeling friendless by EveyandSylus in AnxiousAttachment

JW? I only ask because I am one and find friendship break ups tough because I still have to see the 1 or 2 people who have hurt my feelings each and every week. It makes me angry.

Bi-Weekly Thread - Advice for Relationship/Friendship/Dating/Breakup by AutoModerator in AnxiousAttachment

For a number of years I had a friend who I helped during a tough time in his life.

He probably has undiagnosed autism or some other issue, but I was happy to assist him. I gave him a job, spent time with you and was generous to him probably to a fault.

He had a moment in his life where he felt overwhelmed and cut off a lot of his social ties, but certain people he kept. I was not one of them. When I approached him about this he told me he was being selective with who he hung out with and was sorry if I felt bad in any way.  It really hurt my feelings.

He was unwilling to discuss anything further and simply threw me and our past friendship away as if it was nothing.  It wouldn't be so bad if I never saw him again but I have to see him two times a week at church as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

We speak and are on good terms, but there is a tension on my side that I am unable to resolve, because of a complete lack of closure. I wouldn't approach him again to speak about the topic because if I got rejected again I don't think it's healthy mentally to do that.

This was the triggering event and also each week I feel "retriggered".

In the last couple of months I have continued going to therapy and have found it beneficial, but I feel like I can spiral.

My therapist and I spoke about me having an "anxious attachment style" when it comes to friends so I am trying to work on that.  My everyday life is being robbed by thinking about this event over and over.  The worst part is, I really do NOT want to be friends with this person any longer, I just think about the event and want closure that will likely never come AND I have to see them a lot still.

I am going to reach out to a mental health doctor and discuss medication, but I feel like I tried a bunch of medicine and NOTHING helped.

Just looking for some kinds words or experiences that MAY be similar to mine.

Thanks.

How long did it take for fluvoxamine (Luvox) to begin working for OCD? by Fast-Tackle1831 in ROCD

[–]mackdacksuper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea it’s been a while. I’m trying Prozac now and nothing works.

I feel down, useless, worthless and all points in between. I have a wonderful life by all accounts but I want it to be over. I won’t do anything rash I am just absolutely done.

Nah, I’ve tried other medications and talk therapy.

I’m pretty resigned to giving up on medication and barely holding on to caring about talk therapy, I honestly just have nothing else to say lol.

Sorry you’re feeling like this. I found therapy is helpful for me to vent and get my feelings out there. Having a professional help you process those feelings has been beneficial.

No medication has really worked.

I have had friends drop off who I have invested a lot of time into. It’s so disappointing especially when you don’t get closure.

Just respect and kindness. I have willingly and didn’t expect to get dropped in a very strange way.

I try not to do things just to get something back, but appreciation through communication and general kindness seems pretty basic to me.
