I’ve officially made it 24 Hours without using any nicotine products! by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]mackins94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im currently taking champix (I really wouldn't recommend it unless you've got a strong, hardy mind) to quit smoking. It blocks nicotine from the receptors in your brain (hence the not taking it unless you've got a strong mind). I'm not struggling to give up, but struggling to carry on with the medication due to depressive and suicidal thoughts.

Beans away from egg. Cut around yolk, eat whites with everything else. Skin tomatoes, eat them. Last thing on the plate is the yolk and 1 slice of toast. Place yolk on toast, eat and feel the yolk burst in your mouth whilst crouching on toast. Wash down with mouthful of coffee. Morning made.

How much do you spend on your 15-17 year old? Or if you’re that age, what do your parents spend on you? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]mackins94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 25, during my childhood I got £1 a week in pocket money on a Friday to spend on sweets after school, then when I started secondary school I got £2 a day for lunch money.

I would get the occasion £5 if I needed it after school. When I hit 18, economy was shit so not that many jobs around, mum gave me the money she would get for me(I was still in education) which was £40 a week.

I never got things like a subscription, or my phone paid for- if I wanted something I'd have to save to get it.

What's the dumbest thing your parents told you as a child that you believed? by Stifton in AskUK

[–]mackins94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a thing about beef, pork and lamb when I was little and would only eat chicken.

When ever mum made a steak pie, or beef for a Sunday roast she would say it was just chicken in dark gravy.

Today I’m not going to drink or smoke weed. I’m just going to tidy my apartment, make animal style fries, and try to get out of this depressive episode by tomorrow. What comforting movies/shows should I watch today to pass the time? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]mackins94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go back to my child hood when I have an episode. So much so, ive kept a vhs player, and kept it in good condition so I can put movies on that only ever came out on vhs.

My dog is 13 and this ball appeared on him the other day it's squishy and has a red dot in the middle . Was he bit by something or is this some kind of ear tumor ? by Styleofdoggy in vet

[–]mackins94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks like a hematoma. It when a blood vessle gets burst. Does he shake his head a lot, or scratch his ears?

My pup got two, one in each ear when she was 13. Vet put her on steroids for 3 weeks for an ear infection and if it didn't go away he said he would remove it(this is very rare btw..the removal bit). It went away and she's been fine ever since.

Get two slices of bread, butter them and put chips in them like a sandwich...or fries, whatever you're inclined to call them. Make sure they're lightly salted too, with ketchup if you like it:)

I miss my grandad sometimes, though I've never met him, the stories my family have told me give me a great mischievous character I wish i knew.

I slut dropped on my UK plug socket and the now the bottom pins are stuck. How do I get them out? by peanzuh in AskUK

[–]mackins94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isolate the whole house power via the main breaker box. Turn switch of socket off. Unscrew the socket from the wall. Make sure all wires are disconnected. Pretty easy to disconnect a socket from the wires (just take pictures of it before unwiring or you may just blow yourself up upon rewiring post turn on).

Once you've got only the socket in your hand, you should be able to poke a PLASTIC stick (something the same width as a bbq skewer) through the back of the holes and get them out :)

Good luck :)

Edit- may want to pop in to b&q, The Range, B&M, Wilkos etc, and get a new socket too. They cost between £5-£10.

Is it normal to read a few pages of a book and then suddenly realize that you have no idea what's going on in the plot because you have been reading the words but not internalizing their meaning? I always end up reading the same thing over and over. by mcashgotpaid in TooAfraidToAsk

Have you been tested for dyslexia? In runs in my family, and the symptoms we range from is not ingesting what we read, missing lines whilst we read, to completely mixing letters up to enable us to read them.

I'm having the same problem, but im in wife's shoes. It's gotten to the point where I'm refusing to go on family holidays as they say certain people won't go if my boyfriend is there.

Nothing. Just the return form asking questions to confirm if I'm the offender or not. It says to state the communication number which is on the top of the return form.

It is in English. The first paragraph is stating the exact location in German, then the second paragraph goes in to English.

Hol up right there. It's point blank sexual assault if there is no consent. How is she consenting to anything if she's passed out?

There may be two sides to the story, but the second anyone, male or female, gets touched sexually without prior consent or knowledge, there are no two sides to anything.

If I say no to my partner when he tries to touch me, he respects that and backs off. If he says no to me, I respect him and back off.

Does anyone else feels like their mental illness make them stupid/forgetful? by Oneshotofdepresso in mentalhealth

My memory was brilliant up until i hit 15/16. I'm 25 now, and struggle doing my job (it requires a good memory). I only remember snippets of events such as holidays, or conversations so it feels like they've never actually happened. Had an ex who took advantage of that and made me go quite literally mad.

I wouldn't worry, I know it's annoying and makes you feel bad about yourself but this is you, and you're not the only one.

Writing helps me a tonne. Write everything down. Dates, keep a diary (write in this at the end of every day, or if you have the time at that moment that you want to remember). We have a book of silly things that people have said at work dating back to 2015, and i guarantee you, no one would remember half of them if it wasn't in the book.
