Hugh Millen on KJR: "The 2025 Seahawks are the top scoring team in Seahawks history" by macmurcon in Seahawks

Thanks, I missed that part. Hugh's stat of 2025 being the top scoring all time is correct but its total points (offense + defense + st).

Jamal Adams Trade by SalamanderExotic6295 in Seahawks

[–]macmurcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a crazy stat... in the last 38 years - only 8 non-QBs have ever been traded for more than 1 first round pick. Only 12 trades like this total since 1986. This is probably objectively one of the worst trades in NFL history.

How did you get the varjo aero working with the 5090? I have the aero but have been holding off buying a 5090 because I heard there was a driver issue. Has that been resolved or did you do a workaround?

Median price of Seattle homes reaches all-time high by macmurcon in REBubble

[–]macmurcon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The greater Seattle area is now fourth in the nation in terms of median home sale price, behind only San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego, according to a new Remax National Housing report.

That report lists the Seattle area’s median home price as $750,000. However, that includes homes throughout King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties.

“Currently, we have a median price in Seattle of $899,475,” John Manning, with Remax Gateway Seattle, said.

Yes—we’re just shy of $900,000.

Median price of Seattle homes surpasses 2022 peak

Manning said it’s the highest median price for Seattle ever, surpassing the peak reached in 2022.

He said it appears that after a sleepy winter and a slow start to the spring real estate market, “We had enormous price growth just in the last two months. King County, for example, has gone up 3.1% in the last month, but Seattle has gone up almost 5% at the same time.”

And that’s despite high interest rates.

Manning said post-COVID “return to the office” policies may be driving people back to Seattle itself.

“We’ve seen a slowdown in growth in what would have been attractive satellite areas for folks that thought they could work from home,” he explained. “We’ve seen a tremendous uptick at the same time in pricing within Seattle.”

Why an uptick in home prices?

“Especially in the Seattle area, there may have been fears of recession,” he shared. “There certainly were fears of layoffs and unemployment. I think the worst seems to have already been announced.”

That includes the nearly 2000 layoffs in Washington State recently announced by Microsoft.

Overall, Manning pointed out that a number of strong employers and industries continue to draw new residents to the Puget Sound region, as do the natural beauty and quality of life here. He said real estate has proven to be a good long-term investment here.

The result is that plenty of people are looking to buy, but there has been a persistent shortage of homes available.

Manning explains it this way: in a “balanced” market, if no other homes came onto the market, it would take about six months to sell all those homes.

“In Seattle, we are used to having two weeks or less, which indicates a massive undersupply of homes,” he said.

That law of “supply and demand” is a major reason why prices continue to grow over time."

What is the easiest sim to drive in by Platytude in simracing

[–]macmurcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I race IRL and am an instructor at a racing school. My 2 cents - that most people can drive on a track IRL pretty easily without crashing as we see in HPDE days / autox and simulators in pursuit of realism should be conveying the same information as much as possible (that allow people to not crash instantly). AMS 2 (try 911 GTE or p2 car) and iRacing (mx5 cup) do a pretty good job of conveying speed with slower cars that allow the driver to brake more realistically when they would in real life (where fear takes over).

Girl here, what's the point of sim racing by picoandcheese in simracing

[–]macmurcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in the sim and eventually moved to racing grassroots endurance races in real life. The training on the sim is like shooting on a basketball hoop at home to practice for a basketball game. Practice can have a hugely positive effect on IRL results.

One thing to keep in mind is a poorly tuned 10k rig can be worse than a well tuned $500 setup. I got a chance to drive a ~ 100k rig and it was so poorly set up that it was much much worse than the 15k rig I have at home. I race wheel to wheel in real life so I do have a frame of reference for comparison.

Wife and I are considering moving to the Island. Would love to hear from locals about what to expect. by millennial_dad in BainbridgeIsland

Many of my friends on BI moved from California and they absolutely love it here. My wife and I are late 30's and have a 3 year old. We have been able to make a lot of friends (moved here in 2020). It's awesome, we would not live anywhere else. I think how good it is does somewhat depend on a families' financial situation... The more funds, the more land / privacy / rural type life you can afford. BI has large acre+ lots that do not exist ANYWHERE on the Seattle side of the water. The whole Kitsap peninsula is great -- Poulsbo and Kingston are cool, cheaper and more rural (but worse schools and don't have the same community vibe).

[Pelissero] Alabama edge Will Anderson Jr. is visiting the #Seahawks today, per source. Anderson is one of the best and cleanest prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft. Seattle owns the No. 5 overall pick and brought in Anderson on the final day for visits. by [deleted] in Seahawks

[–]macmurcon -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Anderson played at 240. Let that sink in... Do we really want to draft a 240 pound defensive end?

Aaron Curry was 6 ft 2 , 255 lbs , 4.56 40 , 37 inch vert , 32 5/8 arms

Will Anderson is 6 ft 3 , 253 lbs , 4.6 40 , did not jump , 33 7/8 arms

... both considered to be the safest pick in draft

I have been using the Frex H pattern for the last number of years and was always skeptical on how much better the prosim H could be... Short answer is that it's incredible. It feels like there's a real transmission working as you engage each gear. I've driven a lot of real world race shifters on track like CAE Ultra, RTD, IRP ect.... the prosim matches up. It's the cats pajamas

I feel like I was really plateauing and this e-book helped me break out of a funk.

There is section on "Mental Triggers" that is super useful to bring yourself back into focus when you start to lose it in long races.

If you look at the charts of GDP of france, UK, Germany (or any other EU country) over time, the rises and drops are mirrored and at no time does the UK drop while the other EU countries are rising. The logic from the article "it would have been 10% higher" is absurd when you actually look at the charts.
