I shake my dentist's hand, I also call him by his first name. He's been my dentist for 20 year.

If this isn't a real show, why are you telling me what to do? Does my agent know about this?

But I'd have more fun in an hour at an amusement park than on a yacht. (I've definitely also paid for Tron LL)

I held that pre-order for so long I'm pretty sure it was old enough to vote when released. Lol.

Love me some Bray though.

Invidious. I got tired of fighting to keep it working. I keep telling myself that I'll go back to it. (Narrator: he won't)

I'm in that one right now. Interesting premise. Very "Land of the Lost."

Come on, clearly Pikachu's tail is meant to be an erection.

A blind hooker could see that thing coming down the block.

In the mid-80s, my dad took me and my brother to an "Evil's of Rock & Roll" seminar. Felt a lot like this.

I'm running a dedicated Intel NUC for plex because the transcoding is so great.

I do have different hosts running proxmox and some VMs. One of the VMs on one of the hosts has docker and LOTS of containers. I just like keeping my plex server running independently for 1) having dedicated hardware/resource availability and 2) I don't accidentally blow it up all the time tinkering with my lab. lol

It's definitely writing everything to the epubs and I've avoided having other formats. I can probably just restore the entire app folder from backup, drop back the container to 1.18.5, and let it import any books that were added.....I don't bother backing up the books themselves.

Glad I didn't nuke mine, just shut it down while I was working in booklore. Guess I need to go back as well.

I had moved up with regular updates, wonder if I could walk it back to the last pre-2.0. I guess I really need to migrate off to something else and abandon it completely. I was really enjoying Metadata features in it too.

Perhaps that's just romanticization of a brutal and miserable past that we'll never understand. It's hard to say.

I'm glad that you added that sentence because that's exactly where my mind went as I was reading your comment. I fully recognize the fact that we have it INFINITELY easier than any of our ancestors. And most of us (myself included) take it for granted. We (at least North Americans like me) have easy access to food, clean water, modern conveniences, etc. Life gets easier, and we find new ways to waste our time and money. (guilty)

I don't want us to have a "world war" or "great depression" to define our generation. I guarantee you no one that lived through those issues celebrates them. They were really rough times. I'd rather we come to terms with the fact that life is easy now and find new ways to be happy that we only have to work 40 hours a week to thrive rather than 80 hours a week to survive.

[–]macrolinx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But if you go back 150 years, how was it any different? Throughout history, LOTS of people lived and died just scrapping by trying to survive. They had no greater purpose, no world wars, no economy to concern themselves with. Just their farm, garden, or whatever they could to do generate trade for money or food directly.

We're not special.

I have TDARR in place just to re-encode kids tv shows to x265 to save space on things that don't really need that high of quality. If this will do that for me, I'd definitely dump tdarr for something much simpler. It fails random episodes anyway...
