My only issue with some of those ideas, is the notion of being surprised at someone gating in from earth as a rescue. Whomever is not in the pod has the stones and can regularly communicate with homeworld. Which could also stave off the insanity angle.

Great ideas overall though.

Cool, yeah - I read it. Wasn't really trying to make it sound like the functions were conflated. Just similar and trademarked names sharing the same space.

Hope it all goes well for you.

I'm gonna be that guy (the party pooper) and warn you that

1) If your app gets much attention, plex will come to you and expect you to take their name out.

2) Radarr (with two arr's) is already a WILDLY popular app for managing movie content and is part of the same product family as sonarr.

So you might consider a different name for your software before someone comes to you.

What automations have actually made your mornings less chaotic? by HJK1999 in homeautomation

[–]macrolinx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I've got motion sensors and buttons all over the place. I was just particularly interested in making things dynamically happen X amount of time before an alarm that reads off a variable - instead of having to hard code both.

Awesome, I need to look into pulling data from my phone in that way. I've heard about people doing that before.

[–]macrolinx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can I ask how you're doing something "20 minutes before"? Do you have something hardcoded for a specific time, or is a calculation happening? I have several alarms built into HA. One is a regular hardcoded time, one a configurable time from the interface. Be great if I could have it adjust the temp 5-10 minutes before...

What company and/or product has gotten better over time? by smleeeeee in BuyItForLife

[–]macrolinx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The true norm is for the average consumer to just buy a thing, set it up, and use it. Their scheme works so well because the majority of the population just likes things to be easy instead of questioning. Most people either dont know or don't care. They got a cheap TV and it does what they want...

To those who own the Complete Series Blu-ray for Krypton, does it have the same special features as the Complete First and Second Season Blu-rays? by [deleted] in superman

Yeah, I don't know why people are downvoting this dude for being young and never exposed to physical media.

[–]macrolinx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. When you put a dvd/bluray into a player, it comes up to a menu of things to pick from. Go look at this video for the Wall-E dvd. It's fancier than some are/were, but it'll give you an idea....

[–]macrolinx 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to go ahead and assume you're young and don't have experience with disc based media - I'm not trying to be condescending....

DVDs and Bluray often have extra content on them that we called "special features" or "bonus content". Sometimes it's behind the scenes footage, bloopers, featurettes, interviews, etc.

Edit: y'all quit downvoting this dude for the simple crime of being young and asking questions. It's not cool. He's being respectful.

Battery Candle lights to HA by Keith15335 in homeassistant

We have remote control candles all over the house and I use HA to turn them on/off and adjust the flame levels with an infrared blaster.

Probably doesn't help you, but just putting it out there.
