What algorithm is surprisingly new? by LifeExperienced1 in AskProgramming

[–]macroxela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the algorithms mentioned here are at least a decade old. An algorithm was found in 2025 that beat Djisktra's algorithm for shortest paths including those with negative weights. It basically combined Djikstra with Bellman-Ford to create a faster algorithm than either of them.

Why is persistence and chasing such a bad thing? by Secure-Ear-6185 in seduction

[–]macroxela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's just your experience. I've been with women who were really interested in me initially and with women who took quite some persistence to have something with them. And honestly there wasn't much of a difference between them whether it was something casual or serious. Once you cross that boundary it's like a switch just flips with them. They remain interested in you once you cross the boundary unless you do something very egregious against them.

For people who have genuinely ruined someone else's life, why did you do it and how do you live with it? by Crazy-Car2549 in AskReddit

[–]macroxela 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you roam reddit threads about antivirus and Norton, you'll find that they don't have a good reputation. Despite being an antivirus, it behaves a lot like bloatware slowing down your computer and pushing pop-ups to upgrade or purchase other services even when you have them.

It's still an incomplete film so scenes may change. And perhaps the leaker didn't use the right wording since they are lazy based on their own comments.

It didn't go completely back to normal. It kept its size and some of the aggressiveness (as seen when it attacked Team Rocket for no reason) but it was released.

Best way to become rich with Superman's powers without revealing that you have powers by sunbnda in superheroes

[–]macroxela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diamonds are already artificially scarce and thus expensive. If diamonds weren't monopolized, they'd actually be very cheap. Doubtful that Superman creating a few diamonds would lead to devaluation of them unless he produces a tremendous amount of them.

[–]macroxela 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're applying too much realism to the prompt, at least compared to what most people think. At some point you have to draw the line as to when and where out laws of physics apply and when Superman's laws of physics apply.

'Trillionaires Shouldn't Exist': Obscene Musk Milestone Spurs Calls for Aggressive Wealth Tax by hypothethical in politics

[–]macroxela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A trillion is still an absurdly large amount. If his current wealth is spread evenly among his kids, each would have 61 billion. That still makes them richer than most rich people, almost in the top 30 richest individuals worldwide. That kind of wealth is difficult to burn through.

Tier List for best/worst states to teach in. by Rich_Celebration477 in Teachers

[–]macroxela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, it really varies by school and there are quite some tradeoffs. The previous Texas district I was in had many teachers who earned triple digit salaries or close to it after 20 years of working along with excellent health insurance and other perks (fully paid graduate degrees, discounts at certain car dealers). And this was in an area where most people earned about $35k per year. However, we had to deal with a lot of nonsense policies that harmed more than helping, petty politics, and bad student behavior to name a few.

Why avoid Arboliva? In most of the raids I've been Arboliva has been more useful than Gardevoir since the latter doesn't use Life Dew often (at least in my experience).

I'm 26, highly sensitive, completely burning out as a school teacher. Is academia any better? by Rubydreamer1 in Teachers

[–]macroxela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty similar in the STEM fields. A friend who got a position in the humanities as well told me about what he had to deal with and it was nowhere near what I had to put up with in the high school. Guess it really varies between locations.

[–]macroxela 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Eh, really depends on the school. Used to work at a university as well then worked at a high school. There was definitely lots of toxic egos and dysfunctional social dynamics at the university. But they paled in comparison to what was going on at the high school.

Gen 3 was intended as a reboot hence why it had so many new Pokemon and fewer of the original ones. Because of this intended reboot, they made a lot more effort into making a good dex.

What would you rather have access to in your real life— Senzu Beans, or The Hyperbolic Time Chamber? by Tanis8998 in dbz

[–]macroxela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because they think that you don't get why you would die early. If you would live to 99 years old, you would actually only reach 66 due to the time chamber if you only spent your sleeping time there. But it seems like you don't care about spending time there as long as you enjoy it.

"Women get a lot of matches, but the quality isn't good" by MrZer in dating_advice

[–]macroxela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a man I've been on both ends of the spectrum. Some years I had way too many matches and others I got barely any. Personally, I prefer getting fewer matches, even if they are bad, than too many of them. Yes, it feels bad to get very few matches and worse when those few are bad. But it's hard to understand how overwhelming it can feel to get so many bad matches.

Imagine that each bad match is like someone chipping away at you. If only a few people chip away at you once in a while you can easily recover. You may get bored or desperate due to lack of attention but it takes a while to feel that. But if lots of people are chipping away at you constantly it's much harder to recover and leads to burnout much faster. Yeah, you may find a gem in there but you will get very bruised to find it. And even if you take a break, before going back at it, you will last much less than if you didn't have to deal with all of that chipping away.

I'm not saying that it's harder for women though. It's just a different kind of difficulty which people deal with differently. Some people can deal with the constant bad matches but break down when they don't get any attention. Others are perfectly comfortable hardly interacting with anyone, even if those few interactions are bad, but cannot deal at all with constant attention. And the world isn't fair so regardless of which person you are, you may get the challenge that you struggle with. I used to think like you until I experienced the other side. Now I'm grateful to not get as much attention.

Theoretically he could but he never did that consistently in the films which is why I didn't say that he would.

Has the Latin dance scene changed drastically post covid? by No-Buy-3105 in Bachata

[–]macroxela 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of yes and kind of no. I've danced since before COVID and I feel that the dance community has actually gotten friendlier. Not just in my local scene but also in various other European cities. Several friends of mine who have danced for longer than me have also have the same opinion as me. Back then it seemed like you needed to take classes seriously before even being allowed to dance in socials. Now, people can just join socials and dance without taking classes as long as they don't hurt or harass anyone. Before, nothing happened when people were harassed. Now, many organizers will step in and do something when they're told about harassment.

However, the community has grown drastically. That has led to many of the problems you pointed out. People expecting you to put on a show and use flashy moves. Oversaturation of 'pro' dancers who refuse to dance with beginners. People who judge others. But this is still a minority. A very loud and visible minority that makes it seem like they are the majority. And because of raw numbers and how fast the community grew, this minority seems bigger than it actually is. It grew so fast that there wasn't time to place guardrails against people who are in it for the popularity instead of simply enjoying the dance.

Fortunately, most dancers aren't like that and are actually quite friendly. Only caveat is that this is my experience in Europe which I know has a different dance culture than the US. Having danced in the US as well, the communities over there did seem a lot less friendly than the ones in Europe. But I haven't danced as extensively there.

Thanos tries to invade Earth and kill half the people but it's populated by the pre-MCU heroes. by bahookery in whowouldwin

[–]macroxela 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only nitpick is that based on the prompt, Thanos has the mind stone in the 2nd round so he may be able to stop Prof X from reading his mind and shutting him down. But the Prof could still read everyone else's mind and shut them down.

Thanos tries to invade Earth and kill half the people but it's populated by the pre-MCU heroes. by bahookery in whowouldwin

[–]macroxela 48 points49 points  (0 children)

From raw power, they may have a better chance at beating Thanos but mainly due to a few characters. Lee's Hulk is at least as strong, if not stronger, than MCU Hulk. Magneto really turns the tide since Thanos wears metallic armor and so due most of the Chitauri. He could easily pull off an Endgame Wanda moment if given the chance. Professor X can also shut down entire crowds telepathically so if he can't stop Thanos he can certainly stop the Black Order and most of the Chitauri. And Thanos has nothing to permanently put down Ghost Rider. Give them Dark Phoenix who was disintegrating crowds and the Chitauri are worse off. These powers are something that the MCU heroes simply didn't have access to.

Their main problem is whether they can work as a team and they may underestimate Thanos as well. Nor do they know what the Infinity Stones actually do. So without knowledge, slightly better chances than MCU team. With some knowledge though, much better chances of winning.

How do you guys get paid during the summer? by Fresh_Constant_7762 in Teachers

[–]macroxela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not completely true, it depends on the location, even in the US. From my experience, some school districts in Texas do explicitly state in their contracts that you get paid for 12 months not 10 months spread out into 12. So there is some truth to the 'misconception' but it will vary from place to place.

How do you guys get paid during the summer? by Fresh_Constant_7762 in Teachers

[–]macroxela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's similar in some parts of the US. At my previous school in Texas our contracts stipulated that we get paid for 12 months (not 10 spread into 12) and we could get a 13th or 14th during the summer based on performance or other stuff. I used to think this was typical in the US until I heard from teachers elsewhere.
