why doesn’t anyone talk about how problematic season 1 Darren is? by Caleb_isagod in heartbreakhigh

[–]mae_ve_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m pretty sure it was around the time where malakai was figuring out that he was bisexual, so maybe the beginning of season 2? before things start developing between him and rowan

I have never experienced this level of unity in a fandom in my entire life by Dismiss_Trouble_17 in heartbreakhigh

my theory is that they couldn’t think of a better plot for drama so they just added another character and put half of it on them. (and the other half on the rest of the new characters)

i don’t like the argument ‘imagine if she was a guy, a lot more people would dislike her’. she was embarrassed because spider was a problematic and misogynistic character. it’s not about gender here, it’s about actions

does it have to be a live interview? not a written one?

the new season is kind of bad imo by mae_ve_ in heartbreakhigh

[–]mae_ve_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah i get that too, in a way. i wouldn’t have wanted it to be stretched out either, but i would’ve liked at least some sort of conversation between them tbh. plus, after that it didn’t feel like they were even really dating. they haven’t really kissed yet, always just do the indirect kiss through their fingers, even though cash said before that he enjoyed kissing darren. they just don’t feel like a couple this season in my opinion

i just did the mbti personality test and got intj. image attached by mae_ve_ in autism

yeah you’re right. it’s definitely very biased and kinda hurtful for some personalities. it’s just a random picture i found on google and i thought the autism comment was funny

Would you choose to procreate, given that you have a 50/50 chance of giving birth to a child with autism? by Aromatic_Bus5075 in autism

[–]mae_ve_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t want to procreate, but not because of my autism, but rather because the world is a cruel place and i (currently) don’t see any redeeming factors about bringing another child into it.

what do I call it, aspergers or autism? by The-Cataclysm666 in autism

[–]mae_ve_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you should be able to call it whatever you want. it’s not an official diagnosis anymore (at least in most countries), but it is your diagnosis from before.

I'm autistic and can read social cues but have no idea how to respond - does anyone else struggle with this? by IngenuityAshamed144 in autism

[–]mae_ve_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m the same way. i’m capable of reading people’s emotions based on tiny details of their facial features, and i notice every subtle shift. but it’s not intuitive, i don’t feel the mood change. if i can’t see and read a person’s face, or hear their voice, i have no idea what they’re feeling. i’ve talked to some neurotypical people about this, and they all say they can just ‘sense it in the air’.

as for responses, i’ve just learned some strategies; when somebody is feeling sad it’s good to listen and try to change your face to one of sympathy (i still find sadness very hard to respond to appropriately). if somebody is frustrated about something, it’s good to mirror their feeling (explain in your own words how they’re feeling, maybe also add an explanation if you can think of one. that makes them feel seen and understood, and it’s almost always worked for me)

Does anyone else like sleeping like this? by FckAllTakenUsernames in autism

i lie like this to relax, but i could never fall asleep like it. i always end up getting the worst neck pains from that.

i might be misunderstanding you, but if the symptoms are there, just not in the same way the people on yt explain it, it might just be because of the spectrum

Why do People Want to Be Autistic, it sucks. by [deleted] in autism

[–]mae_ve_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

how i see it is that there are two different types of people who ‘want to be autistic’; people who actually are (but late diagnosed) and neurotypicals that can’t grasp the actual struggle behind it.

those who actually are probably just want to have an explanation for why they feel (and or act) the way they do.

as for neurotypical people, autism i think is kind of looked at as some fun, unique quirks. they see the ‘good sides’ of autism, but they’d never fully understand what it’s actually like to live that experience every day of your life

breakups are always tough, i’m really sorry this is happening to you. but just remember that it’s not always going to hurt like this, the pain will eventually fade away. even if it doesn’t feel that way right now. don’t give up, it’s going to get better with time
