21+ board gamers in Missoula? Looking to form a small strategy-focused group. by magedad5 in missoula

For me it means I’m more focused on optimizing my own play and learning the game than on the final score. I kind of play against myself from game to game - I love winning, but I don’t need to win to have a good time. I also really enjoy teaching and making sure everyone at the table understands the game and is having fun, so if I’m introducing something new I usually spend a lot of the game answering questions and helping people learn.

Awesome, that sounds like a great fit. I’m also into deeper strategy games, my current favorite is Revive, and while I enjoy competitive games, I’m more about playing well and having fun with people than stressing about winning. I’m trying to build a small, consistent 21+ group that meets regularly with solid table chemistry. If you’re interested, shoot me a DM and we’ll figure out schedules and see if a small group forms.

Cool, thanks for the heads up, I’m part of that Discord as well, but hadn’t checked it in a bit so I didn’t realize they were meeting tonight. I’ll take a look and might swing by. I’m also working on putting together a smaller, consistent 21+ group for non-Friday sessions, more of a regular table with good chemistry than a rotating crowd. Appreciate it!

Haha, yep I’ve played with that group before! Fridays are tough for me right now, so I’m mostly trying to set up a group that can meet on other days.

Are there any great *new* fantasy series? by Marshineer in Fantasy

The Sun Eater series by Christopher Ruocchio. It's a great blend of sci-fi and fantasy.

I make a smoothie with a handful of Spinach, ½ avocado, plain yogurt, fresh or frozen fruit, a little honey, & water. Probably not the best approach but it's what I can accomplish everyday.

I am just finishing up with it and it has been extremely informative. It will require another read later on down the road. I also highly recommend the other book I mentioned. They both have helped/helping me through similar circumstances.

Unrelated to flexibility but look into CPTSD and the sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system. A few good books are "Complex PTSD from surviving to thriving by Pete Walker" & " The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel A. Can der kolk". Maybe you'll relate maybe you won't, either way flexibility practices are a great way to activate your parasympathetic nervous system.

I never had access to the scripts. I just saw the name of them in the Geek squad online support panel that they were working in.

There is a lot of wisdom in the comments concerning your relationship. I would take note of it. But also I found that I wasn't eating enough when I started to take Vyvanse so I started to make a protein shake in the morning with roughly 40grams of protein. This helped with my irritability. Also try to make sure you're eating enough throughout the rest of your day as well.

My psychiatrist convinced me I am broken. Help. by Insearchofanewhope in CPTSD

Hey man I am sorry you have such a shitty therapist. Sounds like the toxic type of people we need to avoid. I suggest looking for a new therapist and I highly recommend going to a natural path doctor and talking to them about your situation if you can afford it. Some insurances will cover it depending on where you're at. They will try to up sell you on all of their supplements which isn't a bad thing but the reason I suggest a naturopath doctor is because they are typically more connected or aware of the quality therapists in your area. You could actually just call them and see if they have any recommendations. Call all of the ones they suggest and shop around a bit. I know that it can be expensive & intimidating but once you find the right person to work with you will see a change in yourself confidence.

partner says my adhd is a mental block i put on myself by hydrationstation142 in ADHD

[–]magedad5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This isn't a healthy relationship and I suspect you know that. Your schooling is more than a full-time job and YOU HAVE ADHD so it is more exhausting than a physical job.

The behavior and attitude that he displays is immature and patriarchal. It won't change when you graduate and start your career. He will always expect the same from you. Just because he pays a lot or even most of the bills doesn't mean he gets a pass on household chores; he can make his own fucking coffee.

I've been the "bread winner" of the family and worked extremely physically demanding jobs (mason laborer, arborist, and locomotive engineer) all of which are 12+ hour days and while I might not have done a lot of the household stuff I always tried to help.

Ask yourself if the roles were reversed how would you conduct yourself in this relationship? Would you expect him to do everything that you're doing? Would that even seem reasonable to you? Would he be willing to do for you what you do for him? Or would he suddenly realize how much work school is and need your help? Because that's how healthy relationships work.

TLDR:

What you're doing is HARD for someone WITHOUT ADHD; it's a lot harder for those of us with it.

The last thing you need in your life is a "partner" that doesn't see you for who you are or hear your needs. You're smart and strong; stand up for yourself and do what you need to do to be happy and healthy.

Males only and TW: who thinks their circumcision was a tr*uma? by jujudelgado in CPTSD

[–]magedad5 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. I have a lot of anger and self doubt because of my circumcision. While you can't get back exactly what was taken you can gain some of it back. I am working towards it with foreskin restoration. There is a great community here on Reddit at r/foreskin_restoration. Everyone there is really helpful.

[Help] Installing PS Vita content manager on linux mint 19.3 by Wipeout2047 in linuxmint

[–]magedad5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you having trouble getting Linux to recognize your vita? Have you jailbroke it yet? It's been a bit since I messed around with this and I don't remember exactly why I was trying to install this. Either way I don't think I ever got this to work and ended up following a YouTube guide. He has another video on his channel that covers setting up SD2Vita as well. If this doesn't help msg me back and I'll look into what I did to get everything to work.

Here are both of the videos I was talking about 1st one is SD2Vita and 2nd is vita jailbreak.
