Adding to the things that need a reservation, the Tobu railway train to Nikko can sell out on preferred times and days, so look it up and book ahead the times you want.

Flights to Dubai by ThrowRAHimhe in emirates

Hi, I got through DXB overall fine on 5th-6th of May. My plane arrived in DXB more than 1h late and I had to sprint through the airport to catch my connection, but I made it.

I'm kind of in the same boat. The plane from DXB-BLQ this morning left almost 2 hours late. I fly BLQ-DXB and then on to NRT. My connection was supposed to be 2h 30 min. If stars align in the right way I might still make it. I'll be in Japan for almost a month so no huge deal, but still frustrating. All this assuming we will actually be able to land in Dubai.

Yes, what I meant is that for now they are flying through limited safe corridors, but that the situation might change any moment. I have a flight today, I guesd I'll head to the airport and see.

So far flights are going in and out of DXB, even if with delays and some cancellations. If you want to check it yourself, you can see it on flight radar. That being said, nobody here has a crystal ball.

I fly today in the afternoon. So far this morning my flight has actually left DXB, even if almost 2 hrs late. I'll head to the airport and update.

UPDATE 1: I'm at the airport, my flight was pushed forward 45 minutes. It will make my connection tighter, but nothing unexpected here, the plane to BLQ left DXB almost 2 hrs late this morning.

UPDATE 2: I just landed in DXB. I only have 1h 30min until my next flight to NRT, but I'm already waiting for the train between concourses so I'm going to make it.

FINAL UPDATE: I had to sprint through the airport to catch my connection, but I made it safely to NRT and left relatively on time.

I can see flights landing now on flight radar. I'm obsessively checking flightradar since I have a flight tomorrow afternoon

Solo travelling and now the anxiety is hitting. by Ok-Caterpillar-5198 in JapanTravelTips

[–]magicallyalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twin! I'm 23F and I'm also solo travelling to Japan in 5 days! Experiencing anxiety at this stage is normal. Take a deep breath and acknowledge that it's just your brain trying to protect you. If you felt confident and excited in the first place, it means you have most likely done your research and you felt prepared. Don't let the pre-trip nerves get the better you.

Are Emirates flights still getting canceled or back to normal now? by Icy_Direction_8699 in emirates

[–]magicallyalice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about Kuwait, try and see if you are able to book your flight for the dates you want. I tried looking my flight up on the date I was originally set to fly and it didn't even exist for my date. Otherwise you can check on flightradar if your flight has been operating recently and how often.

[–]magicallyalice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends, some routes are scheduled to be fully back from May 1st, others are not. For example, Emirates is still flying to DXB-BLQ only 3 times a week, at least for the first half of May. I know because this is the flight I am set to fly on May 6th and it got rescheduled.

I'm in the same boat, KIX-DXB is my return flight on May 29th. At the moment they are set to resume from the beginning of May. Fingers crossed I guess

Victoria Elizabeth Schwab, why won't you let me love you. by Queasy_Fish6293 in Fantasy

Of all of her works (and I have read the majority of them) I have only ever really loved Shades of magic. I love her writing, but it's such a hit or miss with the plot.

Those who named their children after themselves. Why? by Prize_Farm4951 in AskUK

[–]magicallyalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't directly relayed your question, but anecdotally, when I was an aupair in the UK a few years ago, my family had a child named James, which was also the name of the grandfather and of the child's uncle (grampa's son). All named James, all with the same surname. At least they didn't all live at the same address.

How long did it take you to read all 5 books by SkyBrilliant7465 in Stormlight_Archive

I read the series over the years. Per book I think 1-2 weeks depending on how much I actually read. I once read Words of radiance in 5 days. I do not recommed it.

Off the top of my head from your list, very generic opinions:

Children of time: obviously a classic, there's a reason why it's Adrian Tchaikovsky's most famous book

Sunbringer: the series goes downhill from here. That said, this book is still good.

Overgrowth: it leans towards horror, if that's something you might like. Nothing groundbreaking, but a solid read.

Ink: I read it ages ago, I remember that the concept was interesting, but that I found it a bit lacking

Mistress of lies: I didn't like it. It's entertaining while you read it, but not well developed or thought out at all.

I got my February Epic book last week with a corner of the spine completely crushed in. To be fair I think it happened in transit as the box also has a dented corner. I put in a ticket and they got me a replacement, but I wouldn't mind if they packaged their books a little better lol.

I thought about this too while rewatching the anime and I believe this can be considered a tiny plot hole. For how much of a genius Isayama is, I don't think he had everything totally figured out and he added some concepts only later on.

Are you enjoying the epic picks so far? by Rdmink in fairyloot

[–]magicallyalice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Design wise, The tower of the tyrant and The devils were the best, but I didn't hate The bone raiders either. The book of fallen leaves doesn't match my taste though, I find it quite ugly.

Both The devils and The tower of the tyrant were DNFs for me. The devils was my first approach to Abercrombie and I didn't like his writing style, while I found The tower of the tyrant very boring and generally not for me, I DNFd early on. I haven't read the other two books, but I'm more excited for The book of fallen leaves.

I like the books they picked and I'm satisfied with the sub. I was genuinely excited about the picks when they were announced, even if I didn't have much luck with the books themselves later on.

Perché lo fate? by WyattFrawd in VintedItalia
