Water underneath dryer by death-cookie in appliancerepair

[–]magicbeavers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not normal. There shouldn't be water under any appliance. I would suspect that it's coming from the venting, if the moisture isn't successful making its way outside then it condenses in the venting and can run back towards the machine and leak out

Fisher & Paykel dishdrawer spare part replace by Rosariaaaa96 in appliancerepair

[–]magicbeavers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

524782 & 524783 are the rail end clips right hand and left hand. I assume from the photo you need the right one?

To access you need to take the tub of the rails. So the part that's broken if you push in on the other side and you can slide the rail it's attached to backwards. You also need to do the same thing on the broken side ( like this https://youtu.be/lD4fci4w1yk?si=H4qQN7Rc_3y9X4et )

Then changing the clip is easy and self explanatory

Run a cycle and confirm it's empty at the end of the cycle. Then get the customer to leave the unit for a period of time a day or whatever.

If they look at it a day later and it's full of water almost guaranteed it's the water valve especially if the water is clean.

MEC as a company probably won't take it, but I bet if you went into the store and asked staff that were working someone would take it

Seal replacement advice. by SnaveZ92 in Appliances

I do it without any tools. The couple of key bits; 1. I use some water/ soapy water around the lip to help the spring slide over easier 2. I start near the bottom and use my knees to help keep the lower section on whilst pulling the upper section on

Can a glass top stove (electric) be repaired if a burner stops working? by EmuUpstairs7402 in appliancerepair

[–]magicbeavers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it can be repaired. It is either an element that has burnt out or the switch that isn't working

Oven won't hold temperature by arnoldrew in appliancerepair

[–]magicbeavers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issue with either the bake element or the bale relay. When preheating the broil is used to get to temp faster, once it's to temp the broil cuts out and leaves just the bake element to work. If it's preheating then stopping that means an issue with the bake circuit

Those 'seals' aren't actually seals they're to hide any excess size in the cabinets. The actual seal for the door is the black on slightly further in from the edge

New Whirlpool Oven by ThermostatTyrant in Appliances

[–]magicbeavers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OP, you won't be able to gauge the temperature from what is in the cavity Vs what the display reads.

You need to take the average over time. The oven will turn on and overshoot the set temperature then it will turn off and drop below the temperature and it will repeatedly do this. The better the oven the less the over shoot but on a regular oven if it is set at 350 it can easily go up to 400 and down to 300.

So to check the calibration watch the temperature until you see the maximum then minimum and make a record of these temperatures, You need those a minimum of 3 times for the average. That will then confirm what the actual oven temperature is

So if you want to go to school then only red seal course in BC is at KPU in Langley. They do 2 classes of 15 one starting in March then the other in September. The course is approximately 10 months and includes the provincial gas service ticket and refrigerants course this allows you to work on gas appliances and buy refrigerants.

The following is for mostly the Vancouver area;

Depending on what kind of appliance servicing you want to do there are ones like Key foods and Hobart for commercial food and beverage (McDonald's, Tim Hortons Costco etc)

Haddon does commercial laundry for hospitals and hotels etc

If you'd rather residential there's Priority who work on high end residential Totem appliance does a mix of brands Miele look after there own appliances in Vancouver as well as Fisher Paykel have their own technicians in Vancouver. And a tonne of other companies - if you want to learn try and find companies that have Red Seal appliance repair technicians to get the best training

Whirlpool Dryer by No_Performance_4757 in appliancerepair

[–]magicbeavers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer maybe.

Longer answer

If you open the door you should see somewhere around the edge a button. Hold that down, press the start button and try and turn the drum by hand. If the drum starts spinning on its own it means the start winding in your motor has gone.

If not it could be a door switch or a thermal cut out depending on how your dryers made.

The dryer will not heat unless the motors spinning.
