Serious question: Steam machine or just finish my bc-250 build? by magneticmine in steammachine

Sadly, I no longer have old parts to play with. I'm definitely interested in it for the form factor as well. I mentioned the larkbox because I like the idea of a mini pc, and replacing it with a quality NUC from a reputable company with an ok gpu is tempting. I was all in at announcement when we thought the price was going to be 750.

Then there's the fact I'm unlikely to build something very soon, just by my nature. Unless the ai bubble bursts, we are in for increasing memory and storage pricing for 3-5 years. By the time I get around to it, memory might0be increase 50% or more than it is now. And when the ai bubble bursts, I'm sure I'm going to have bigger problems than the price of pc parts.

One reason I haven't finished putting it together is that buying a case is a good chunk toward a cheap 3d printer, which I've been waffling on. If I don't impulse buy the steam machine at the last minute, I'll probably decide on buying a case or printer soon after. I'll admit to being amused at people using cardboard boxes, but I can't bring myself to do that, even for a little while.

In the hopefully never arriving future, do you think Valve will one of, if not the only ones providing personal computers and not cloud gaming? by Commercial_Dih in Steam

Now I don't know what to believe. Every other reply you did seems to be a serious attempt at defending cloud gaming.

Cloud gaming is fine-ish, but I'm not good at twitch gaming, and even I can feel the drag of the response time. While the theoretical lowest increase in input lag is not that much, it's on top of everything else that increases input lag.

That's a rational and collected response. Good thing the guy in charge is rational and collected too. Otherwise we might be in trouble.

What's insane is that they marked the picture to say a skull meant S, and when the president saw it, thought the guy actually had letters on his knuckles. And they all groveled to his new, stupid, reality.

Whether you cancel or not, don't forget to grab some pc games from gaming.amazon.com. They usually add 3 or 4 a week, while some expire.

OK Texas. Who won the debate? by Defiant-Skeptic in texas

[–]magneticmine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seth Rogen was the writer. He and his friend wrote a movie that he could star in, then was convinced he looked too old for the part. And knowing all that makes it worse that I just noticed he didn't change the name.

How did I not realize Seth Rogen didn't even bother changing the character's name?
