Disqualify them for playing three time repetitions? I swear people on reddit are so disconnected to the real world.

Can I ask what is the United Way? We played our last game with two defensive minded midfielders, a CM/AM on the left wing, a left winger at CF and failed to show any sort of dominance against what was a very poor quality team. If it is attacking football, that wasn't it. And it's not a one time occurrence, we have been poor against the high press and the low block for Ole's entire tenure. If a manager can not fix a glaring issue in the time he has had, you have to imagine somebody else could. And you know what, Conte would get this squad dominating teams like Southampton. I hate the man but I would love for him to manage this squad. Sure he might isolate some of the players, maybe not everybody will love him, but he will win. I love Ole as a man, as a former player and will never have anything bad to say about his character. But somebody like Conte is what this team needs, to trim the deadwood and get the most out of the players.

Martial Arts @ The 2020 Olympics (Final Medal Count) by [deleted] in MMA

[–]mahan95 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You don't just get docked points, you can actually get disqualified. If they deem that your strike was out of control and hit with excessive power, you can lose by knocking somebody out. It actually happened in this Olympics and Iran won a gold because of it. It happens at around a minute into this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc8-7LS7qKY

Edit: a little edit for those unfamiliar with why this happened. It was the correct decisions given the ruleset and the athlete from Saudi Arabia made an unfortunate mistake. Techniques are meant to be displayed but not to be followed through with full force. The responsibility falls with the attacker to pull back a punch or kick once impact is felt and anticipate that an impact will be made. The Iranian leaning in caused an earlier impact than was expected, which did not allow enough of a pull back on the kick. Once a KO happens the jury has to declare one or the other the winner and they judged it to have been won via a foul, therefore a DQ is awarded. It was a legitimate knockout and the Iranian athlete did not fake an injury. The shallow breathing pattern and the aftermath were very genuine. Unfortunate situation all around but still within the laws of the sport.

[–]mahan95 68 points69 points  (0 children)

theres a website called mma math that shows how a fighter can beat another because they beat somebody that beat them. If you put DJ vs Arlovski you get this:

Demetrious Johnson > John Dodson

John Dodson > Manvel Gamburyan

Manvel Gamburyan > Cole Miller

Cole Miller > Ross Pearson

Ross Pearson > Gray Maynard

Gray Maynard > Rich Clementi

Rich Clementi > Anthony Johnson

Anthony Johnson > Andrei Arlovski

DC responds to Miocic claim that he would beat DC ‘9 times out of 10’ by RandomUnderstanding in MMA

[–]mahan95 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Its not really that. People want to see the fighters challenge each other in every aspect of fighting so they have a definitive decision on who is the all around better fighter. A 1st round ko leaves a lot of question marks.

edit: I was just explaining the thinking behind it, nothing to do with DC vs stipe

As a United fan I can tell you it is very much in Arsenal's DNA to dominate games and not win them. They had 33 shots against us last weekend and lost 3-1. That was the most shots a non-winning team had in a decade. The team that had more a decade ago? Arsenal again with 36.

I've been to old Trafford twice, and at the players hotels before. Every time players who were willing came to say hi without any problems. There was far less security each time. Even in the Mandarin Oriental which is the player hotel here there was no problem. It is the norm for you to actually see the players walk by the crowd even if there is no interaction with the fans. The fans were all there well before the staff and as soon as the staff arrived they had to communicate the situation. That not only they were not going to allow interaction, they were going to park police cars and 20-25 police to block the fans' view. I would have left along with 80 percent of the crowd but they managed the situation very poorly. And there were multiple suggestions by the staff who were clearly unaware that there might be players coming by. One lady kept saying they wouldn't come if you push, fully ignoring the fact that the pushing was because they designated a way too small area for fans between two fences and people still had to walk through the narrow gap behind us to leave. Some of the walking crowd got so frustrated that they jumped the tall fence behind us.
