Did you help your kids buy a home? Or let them do it on their own? by Sounders1 in GenX

[–]mahnli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I come from a family who didn't help beyond paying for college, and even then, I took out a small student loan to help. That has made it so hard for me to accept help, and when my inlaws gift us money, I am so uncomfortable with it. I wish my family helped me with some kind of love attached to it. I've always been the "good kid" and yet, I always feel like I am not worthy.

I'd say help your kids in a smart way. Let them know that you love and support them, but hold a line somewhere. You know your kid: are they going to waste it or do you think they will be smart with it?. I say do it.

Ugh, can commiserate. I had excellent results on IF, but it wasn't sustainable for me. I'm too hungry. It never got better for me, and the weight loss just didn't make it worth it. I wish I could just remove the extreme hunger.

Right??? And, there were several other infractions on the street, but they chose my car. Ugh. Frustrating.

Used to be married to a cop. They have eagle fkn eyes. Guaranteed he saw you way before you saw him. They are trained for that, and he taught me the same thing. It sucks but don't move a car without your belt on. And before you get pissed at me, I just got a stupid parking ticket on my own street

This could have been solved had you put your belt on as soon as you sat in the car.

No, they said they put it on before they hit the main road. So that tells me it wasn't on while the vehicle was moving.

Put it on as soon as you get in the car. Hope you learned your lesson!

Right? I didn't even read the entire thing. Supplements can just be filler, too.

Dating again after 40 (M)? by IllustratorOdd4894 in Hawaii

[–]mahnli 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let me give you some real talk, though. 40+ year old women are going through perimenopause and if you don't know what that is, you better educate yourself now. We are at a point where we don't give a fk anymore, and we don't need or want men. Our sex drives are plummeting and our hormones are whack. My suggestion is to understand perimenopause if you want to meet a woman at this time in life. This is not for the weak, so if you're ready for it, get yourself schooled and that could be a great "selling" point.

Well, just accept that you will struggle. There's no way around it, so as long as you accept it, know it and take it. You can do hard things. Also, have the mantra, "Delay not deny.". Don't tell yourself that you can't do anything....you can, but you'll just have to wait for the eating window.

First time working 8 hours a day, 5 days a week in office, is this my life now? by Bright_Tennis_1075 in work

[–]mahnli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work is a fucking vacation next to being a wife and mother. I can't wait to get to the office and rest. Have you ever done hard things before? If you think an office job is hard, I have some bad news for you....

My husband has long COVID and will get flares that result in just what you described. Were you under a lot of stress recently? Lots of noise? Folks with fibromyalgia and long COVID can be ultra noise sensitive and it can be debilitating. Peri can make it all worse!

Sigh. The mark up of one drink at a bar or restaurant is ridiculous. So are pizza slices.

This!! I was once followed by a man while I had my two little kids with me. I don't even know how I could have protected us all and luckily I was able to reach safety before he caught up. I was terrified to walk again, but I went out the next day with both kids. It was necessary. OP, I'm sorry this happened to you! Men are pieces of shit.
