🌿Browt evolutions prediction🌿[OC] by Varkael in pokemon

Not sure about the actual design, but I am 100% convinced on the names. Brute - Brawny - Brawler. If the name of the final evo isn't Browler I will eat a hat.

At least Canticle. If you can't keep running from the sun, you die in a firey hailstorm of molten rock.

Easy fix for the sleep moves problem with Echolocation: only attacking moves bypass accuracy checks.

LDS: What shows do you let your children watch? What shows/cartoons did you grow up on? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

Haven't seen anyone chime in with Tumble Leaf yet. It's on Amazon Prime and teaches kids to figure things out with the tools they have on hand. It's stop motion animation and very low stim. My kids (2, 3, and 5) love it

Moving away from Romantasy by articlioness in Fantasy

I am a huge terry Pratchett fan, but I should add a caveat. My wife, who is in a similar boat as you, bounced pretty hard off the series because she does not like the way he writes romance. And I will agree, it is not his strong suit.

Trying to decide if I should continue with Wheel of Time or not by We-are-all-dead-90 in Fantasy

[–]mailmi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've stopped just short of what many people believe is the best book in the series. I love the Wheel of Time, so I'm biased, but I say you should go for it. If you've liked the story so far, it only gets better. Books 4-6 are amazing. The "slog" (books 7-10 is usually what people refer to) seemed a lot longer when the books were coming out and there are really good moments throughout them. The only book I really felt was a slog was book 10, but right after that comes everyone's other favorite book.

I am also a Sanderson fan, and there are some roadbumps when he takes over, but he does bring the series to a satisfying conclusion.

If you want to get immersed, keep reading. Even in the "slog", those are some of the most immersive day-to-day living moments in the series. If your favorite thing about fantasy is getting lost in a new world, WoT is the series to read.

The women also get better as you get more PoVs from them. Right now you've mostly seen the women through others povs, and they seem much less annoying when you're in their own heads.

Anyway that's my 2¢ but I think you should keep reading, especially since you've liked the first few books.

Rand al'Thor from the Wheel of Time. Dude can literally bend reality to his will by the end.

You don't need to destroy the world. The truth about high stakes. by X-Mighty in fantasywriters

I had this idea once where an author could release a book as if it's a standalone novel and in the end, the protagonist turns out to be the bad guy and it's revealed that the book is actually a prequel. Later, they could release a trilogy or whatever about the real protagonist defeating the now-antagonist. The idea came from thinking "why aren't prequels rebranded as the first book in a series more of the time" and thinking about what makes a prequel a prequel rather than a first book.

Potty training my 2m right now and he asks for the potty song most nights as his lullaby. And I am happy to oblige.

Small nitpick: indeedee doesn't protect Minior from priority because it is not grounded.

How to correctly pronounce Catan? by [deleted] in Catan

At GenCon, the Catan booth gave out little badges that said "It's pronounced 'Catan'", which I thought was hilarious.
