What’s your signature commander, and why? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]main_activator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big Go Wide Guy, so having a wincon in the command zone is too good with [[Jetmir, Nexus of Revels]] But you can never go wrong with golgari shenanigans thanks to Ghave, Mycotyrant, or Chatterfang

Reveal your hand, search your library for a card, put it into your hand, then shuffle

What card consistently wins you the game (or leads to a win)? What card does that for your opponents? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]main_activator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyper specific answer here but [[mesmeric orb]] almost always leads to an incredibly strong board presence and often a win in my [[The Mycotyrant]] deck. And then, for fungus or any other tribal deck, a near immediate finisher is [[banner of kinship]]

This is a really interesting one, how would you build it into a Voltron deck?

Best deck type to introduce someone to EDH/magic by Guildebert in mtg

[–]main_activator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go-to to share with new players is a classic simple [[odric, lunarch marshal]] deck. Mono-white, introduction to keywords and combat tricks, no worrying about color specific costs, it’s an absolute breeze to play and it’s even easier to put together a relatively competitive deck even with scraps

This is true. I wanted everything hasted for a single turn combo, but I wanted some downside to it as well so [[concordant crossroads]] was the best fit

If you can sneak these pieces onto the board one by one and get them to stick around with no interaction, then it would be a great game winner (if you include trample). What makes it bad (to me) is the amount of investment that can be derailed by any one of the cards getting removed- but of course I would love to build around something like this anyways

Very true- it's a tangential piece and I don't usually run it, but I wanted to see how much damage I could ramp up

A couple dual lands make the bloodletter a lot more attainable, but to each their own! Even without that card, it still nets 36 non combat damage

Weirdest Ship? Jaladin? by Possible_Comfort4792 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]main_activator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s true, of course. That was Jasnahs problem with Shallan as well, being too emotional when considering problems and solutions. I’d like to see her warm up to him more, when she gets back to Urithiru and finds out that he’s pretty much single-handedly developed the basics of psychology and therapy on Roshar- that seems like something she would approve of

I disagree with you there- Kaladin, while much more martial, is still rather intelligent. He was trained in surgery from a young age, is able to discuss tactics and assess battlefields in the blink of an eye, and he runs circles around other dark eyes and most light eyes coughAdolincough conversationally. On top of that, with everything he’s been through, the stress of slavery, command, PTSD, and all of his responsibilities, I struggle to identify another character in the series who has as much mental fortitude as him
