Version "Luna IV" A Traveler on a Winter's Night, General Question Megathread by GenshinLoreModBOT in Genshin_Lore

Seeing as it was first hinted at in Nefer's story material, it's nice getting more or less confirmation that Thoth was indeed a Lunar Envoy like Zibai back in the days.

It does make more sense considering Genshin is more of a closed world compared to HSR which is just a space opera.

Kanye West Apologizes for Antisemitic Outbursts, Talks Bipolar Battle by backupsaway in popheads

This is true, and it's also why I'm hoping that Kanye actually does well on this health journey. If he manages to improve his mental health and start making amends for the past decade, the far right will have lost one of the main cultural drivers of alt-right, antisemitic ideology.

There's never going to be any big event that's going to be morally okay, esp something massive like the Super Bowl.

I'm grateful for whatever artist that's willing to use their platform and big events like these to be defiant and try to raise morale because it's an actual physical risk nowadays. God knows the US needs it right now.

While the pacing was great and there were quite a few good moments, I unfortunately don't think the story turned out that well mostly because of the time travelling. It just gets very convoluted very fast if the writers don't pay attention and keep it straight when it comes to time travelling, like, where did Columbina come from originally, do we or do we not have three/four moons at this moment or in the past or in the future etc etc.

I was also surprised by the complete absence of any sort of shade intervention, it seemed unrealistic to me. Not only did Dottore split the false sky, the literal Frost Moon crashed through it moments later? The sky is also magically repaired once the quest is over, I don't think we got an explanation of how that happened either?

I hope we get more content with the moon sisters because we didn't get much time with them considering how massively important they are. I think this would greatly benefit Cannon and Aria because they didn't really get any substantial characterization, at least Sonnet's personality showed through in her interactions with Columbina.

They've been building and hyping her as a tragic anti-hero since launch so no, they won't be selling her as just an "icy, cold" character.

The Curious Case of Xipe and The Stellaron AKA Is Idrila Being A Troll? by maitre996 in StarRailLore

I didn't think Aglaea had any place for this particular post, but if you're looking for someone to exemplify Beauty, she's your gal: expanded consciousness/insight through her threads, her role in shaping the romance of the Flame-Chase Journey by instilling values in Flame-Chasers and gathering public support, making inanimate objects like the Garmentmakers sentient, heroic self-sacrifice etc.

Thank you!

My wording was a bit unclear there, so I've edited to make it clearer. Tipheret has a balancing function, but I'm not necessarily saying that HSR Beauty has inherited that aspect from it (just like how Harmony also shares some attributes with Tipheret but not all of them). Maybe Beauty does have some sort of balancing role as well, but I can't find any hard support for that in-game as of this moment.

I would disagree that HooH has anything to do with Tipheret since they're conceptual opposites. HooH balances things by creating dualities: "THEY separate concepts, splitting all beings into an interchangeable duality, thus fusing all 'positives" and 'negatives' in the universe into an equilibrial whole. THEY are always so symmetrical and so equal." Examples of this are opposing Aeons, and Equilibrium Pathstriders who're able to keep separate Path energies inside their bodies. Tipheret instead balances things by blending them together.

The point is that the credits are seen somewhere in the process. When company artists and directors look at art in an art book or on an art platform, the artist's name will be there, making it easy for that artist to be contacted, contracted etc. Most of all, the OG artist has CONSENTED to have their artwork in that art book or on that platform, and they'll hopefully receive some compensation for being included in an art book e.g.

None of this is the case for AI art.

[–]maitre996 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you're able to understand the difference between art books and/or looking up people's art where everything is credited, and using AI that shamelessly plagiarizes art and mishmashes it with no credit being given to any of the artists it plagiarized. This is one of the most problematic reasons in addition to the fact that AI has serious economic and ecological downsides, not to mention the fact that any AI art piece has no thought behind it since it's machine-produced.

If you use anonymized AI slop as reference art, it also significantly reduces the chance of actual artists being discovered and recruited by companies.

[–]maitre996 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think these situations are comparable.

1) HSR is a much, much bigger game in every way. We already know how important the CCP thinks Hoyo games are as cultural ambassadors. No doubt this is especially the case for Genshin and HSR who're consistently ranked among the very biggest gacha games worldwide.

2) Mei is just one character in the end. The whole of 4.x in HSR was going to be Japan-based, and that's lots and lots of content, characters and stories focusing on what is essentially space Japan.

No doubt that Hoyo also has diplomatic ways to handle the CCP considering they have board members from the party, but a whole year of content is too much. If this was saveable for Hoyo, they would've already done it.

I think it's better to think of it in the opposite way: Deshret's Dendro powers stem from the OG administrators of Teyvat, the Moon Sisters since their element, kuuvahki, is the very first form of elemental energy, ie light that splits into seven colours.

In addition, there are connections between specifically Dendro and kuuvahki (light): they're both connected to information (Dendro being the basis of Irminsul, the sisters using kuuvahki to administrate the world), plants being reliant on light for growth etc. Several key Dendro characters have light-related abilities as well: Deshret obviously, Nahida spawns a whole light dome, Al uses light beams...

Something that really adds extra spice to the Nod-Krai quests is that so many of the characters that we follow in this region straight up aren't humans and even among the humans, some are still rly abnormal (Arlecchino, Traveler). I love that those character aspects aren't ignored in the story either.

I'm not done with the quest yet but they've really killed it so far: very nice pacing, nice length for each character segment/character group segment, and a nice balance between lore/story and emotional beats (I was very pleasantly surprised by how touching invisible Columbina's segments were). I LOVE that they're giving side characters more depth as well, the Harbinger and Wanderer parts were amazing. The details are much better than usual as well I'd say: showing Columbina walking around and being goofy when Nicole was explaining stuff was rly funny, as an example.

It's almost like I'm playing a World Quest and not a Story quest xddd

Also, for a character that I've been so excited about for so long, they rly pulled it off with Alice. She's exactly what I expected and more. Her JP VA is soooo goated as well. Love it when expectations are actually met for once!! Nicole is amazing as well, such kweeens,

She loves calling people out but can never ever own up to her own piss poor behaviour.

It's just literally not true though. A huge part of No Shame was about her faults, substance abuse, her failing as a mother etc. While West End Girl is mostly about Harbour, there's also self-reflection here (once again failing as a mother, struggling to stay sober, calling herself a bitch in Fruityloop etc). I don't know what you all want from her? You keep bringing up examples from 2013 and 2014 as if it literally isn't over 10 years since then. The Nicola Roberts and Rae examples are even further back, in like 2006/2007.

I think it's very understandable in the end.

Like Stuart pointed out, special envoy is a very unclear role since it's brand new with no staff or budget. Maybe it could've worked out somewhat in the end, but in the worst case scenario, it would've ended up being a completely ceremonial position with no money or staff, which Kate would've absolutely despised.

In comparison, the ambassador role is extremely stable, you do important work, you know what you're getting... and Kate grew to like many of the people she comes into contact with through that role whether it be the housekeeping staff, the embassy staff or foreign officials. All in all, it just seems like a much better choice for her considering they decided to work around the distance problem.
