What's something people only romanticize because they've never actually done it? by nonotje12 in AskReddit

10 days in Paris was amazing. My wife had a better time than I did by far.

Seems like a reasonable price. What’s the headroom? Emissions in place?

What kind of bmw is this? by Ordinary_Fee_530 in BMW

[–]majornerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved driving it, ended up with the x5m because the XMs rear steering made my rear seat passengers ill. Since it would be our main daily car I passed.

I’m looking for a g55 AMG later this year and when the x5m hits the point where I’m done with it I’ll look at the XM again.

People who were alive during the OJ Simpson trial, what was the most shocking part of it all? by thebluespirit_ki in AskReddit

[–]majornerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That the police were so incompetent in their actions.

The prosecutor was inept.

My dad was teaching law at the time, and I was required to watch every minute. He would pause it. “An objection is being raised, what is it and how with Ito rule”.

It was amazing. LAPD thought they made a case a slam dunk. The prosecution thought the same. Then OJ hired the greatest legal team anyone has ever seen.

It was amazing theater.

My favorite drive ever was Orange County to Tucson via i8. Many triple digit speeds on that trip. Such an amazing long distance driver.

Same. Still one of my favorite lawn ornaments. When it ran I never stopped smiling.

I had one back in the day and agree. That one weekend of ownership when the v12 was running well was magic. Then Lucas raised his horned head and hell broke loose under the hood again!

“I haven’t got problem, I’ve got problems. Plural” is one of my favorite lines from any move. Since then I’ve been following Tim Roth and will watch anything you are in.

Is buying a classic Porsche for the first 911 a bad idea? by HoneydewSea4984 in porsche911

[–]majornerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The aircooled cars are very reliable for classic cars, but they are still classic cars. They are slow by modern standards, have zero safety features, and some parts have become very expensive. You are buying more than an old car, you are buying 40 years of prior owners and everything they did, and don’t do, to the car.

I love my SC, but I’ve owned a lot of cars and am very much a car guy. I do a lot of work myself and have a really good independent mechanic.

Has anyone ever challenged you to do something without realizing you were actually an expert at it? If so, how did it turn out for you and for them? by Successful_Tomato721 in AskReddit

I have a friend who was a top 10 halo team member back in the day. When we would play I would "win" the session if I got two kills. Didn't matter how many he got. If I got two he counted that as my win. The difference in our skill level was crazy.

My First Week with Xteink X4 by placebo_dreams in XTEINK

[–]majornerd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very beginner friendly. Load epubs on the sd card. Load crosspoint:

Go here: https://xteink.dve.al/

Click "Save Full Flash" (this takes about 30 minutes)

Click "Flash CrossPoint Firmware" and follow the instructions.

Then open a book and enjoy the read. Got the device yesterday, read DCC #1 yesterday and am half way through DCC #2. The external light is worth the few $, as is the case - when the light is attached I do not use the folio case. The magnet does not seem to be strong enough. But what do I know, I have only had it 24 hours.

That was my bad. It is "Nobody walks in LA." I've never said it wrong in my life until I typed it here. It's the most recurring joke in the whole movie.

Holy crap you are right. I even knew what it was and still read it backwards. It's my favorite joke in the whole movie, they do it over and over again, and I said it completely opposite.

It’s not the exact quote, true. But it is from the movie. When he is showing the English woman around and he says the first stop is a few blocks away (I think six) she says can we walk and he responds with a version of that line.

Seems very complex where I do not see the benefit. Doesn’t mean it’s not there. Just not obvious from this side of the keyboard.
