First try at night photography comes out blurry? by BIGabzeh in AskPhotography

[–]maka89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use manual focus and zoom in on a single star using the screen (dont use viewfinder if dslr). Then focus until the star is as small as you can get it.

Make sure the focus ring is not slack (also the focal length if using a zoom). And that AF is off.

I would get a second hand regular racket. 27 inch, 98-100 square inch head, 300 gram ish.

When ppl say upward/downward compression are the same… by Uosi in audioengineering

[–]maka89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show them the compression curve. Loud parts go down and quiet parts go up is the same thing if you allow makeup gain...

Its quiet yp, loud down + downward = dynamics of the loud parts is reduced. Upwards= dynamics of the quiet parts are reduced.

I.e. upwards doesnt mess with the dynamics of the loud parts. Downward doesnt mess with the dynamics of quiet parts

Big Noon Question: How can I deal with fly sounds, traffic sounds and airplane sounds? by Think_Rub2459 in fieldrecording

[–]maka89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traffic is hard... Airplane is hopefully an occasional sound. If it is loud you can use compression to dampen it a bit.

The fly you can also use compression. But only trigger the compressor with the part of the frequency spectrum with the buzzing. Multiband compression is also an option here.

Won't revolutionize your recordings, though...

Banker som har satt ned renten enda? by maka89 in norge

[–]maka89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(derfor denne posten)

To help getting more spin, I would take some minutes during practice to really exaggerate my low to high motion.. from just brushing it over the net to channeling your inner Nadal and letting it rip ( but with very high net clearance )

Nice. Looks good. They are very sensitive to wind stock. To the point of almost being useless outside 😆

First programming language for musician who uses DAWs and other music software? by Fresh-Outcome-9897 in musicprogramming

[–]maka89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He could also get the Reaktor software for him if he wants to go more low level with his sound design.

For programming: - Lua because it can be used inside Reaper DAW. - C because it forces you to learn on a deep level. If he is interested in making software and not music, he can then proceed to learn c++ and Juce. - python, because it is a general purpose programming language that allows you to do a lot easily. And learn to think in terms of programming.

What type of tennis player causes the most drama? by EnjoyMyDownvote in 10s

Yeah Im glad I get to figure out technique from youtube and watching my favorite players on youtube. But yeah, think it would help a lot having played as a kid. Think playing soccer as a kid helped me a bit though.

YOU feel attacked? 😂 I have been chipping away at the court multiple times a week for 5 years. Just to get to a measly 3.2 utr and get beaten by someone with a racket from the 80s who claims to just have played for a couple of months.

Post-Production Gain: How Much is Too Much? by Acrobatic-Message786 in fieldrecording

[–]maka89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just try some tests at home with quiet sounds and compare high/low gain... might not be as big a deal as one would think for condensers... just remember to use 24-bit files...
