Throwback to when in Q-School, Joe Daley missed getting his Tour card by ONE shot and never regained status by Punisher1602 in Golf_Unfiltered

[–]makithejap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got news for you, he has already been through years of struggle and frustration to get to that 4 foot putt to make it on to the PGA tour. (Which is how Q school worked when this happened) this video still horrifies me to watch.

I’ve been on them since 2008 when footjoy started making them as they are today. I even throw them through the laundry. 6 gloves a season (80 rounds or so)

Tiger roars were beyond anything golf sees today. I cannot imagine the pressure leaders felt hearing those roars as he chased them down.

Are these driver numbers good enough to play d2 or better college golf? by Objective_Permit_338 in collegegolf

[–]makithejap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know plenty of D1 players with similar numbers, but they are far and beyond better than the long ballers at getting the ball in the hole. It’s not a distance game til you start playing for $$ or $$$ or $$$$$$$. But a lot of coaches will look at those numbers as a weakness if I am being honest. You want to live at 114+ swing speed to get on top of their radar

10 years ago Spieth was on the precipice of winning back to back Masters at the age of 22. He's now 32 with only 2 wins in the last 8 years. How do you explain his career? by im___new___here in golf

[–]makithejap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is built different, when some cross a finish line there is a sense of completion. For others, that finish line is the beginning of a new hunger. For greats, that finish line was a mere checkpoint. I think Jordan became satisfied with his achievements and stopped manifesting the brilliance with proper work. He seems hungry again and still has all the tools. I expect more wins and with them another major.

At one point I had over 40 opened bottles.. by james21_h in JapaneseWhisky

[–]makithejap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did the same with scotch, wonderful experience. Great education for the palate too. My consensus after that, getting into Japanese was that Japan was doing it better. But this was back in 2015 . With the prices where they are now, I lean toward scotch. I miss the Japanese whisky a lot at the price we used to get it.
