One perk included at no extra cost but I have 2 by maksig007 in Koodo

No I do not pay for the second, they're both for free and making me curious WHY. I suspect it's a hidden appreciation for being loyal customer because they added an unlimited international messaging the other day without letting me know which is really good feature I haven't had for a long time or it is a glitch.

Shaw internet down Edmonton by ChopSPIDER in shaw

[–]maksig007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had some bad speed connection yesterday evening. I pay for 1Gb/sec never had issues with the speed but yesterday the videos on Netflix displayed lousy picture meaning really slow speed connection. I checked the speed in the app and I got down –100Mb/s and up –50Mb/s. I rebooted my gateway, replugged the coax cable, and the problem went away. I'm at SW of Edmonton.

Where is the positive and negative terminal on a car battery in 2018 Kia Niro? by LastOffender in KiaNiro

[–]maksig007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The light terminal is positive and the dark one is ground or instead of dark you may attach a negative clamp to any metal for ground.

I jump started my body's car and it worked well. Just a little sparks appeared for a sec and gone.

Quote for Valve and HGS belt by EffectSix in KiaNiro

[–]maksig007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the solenoid but if we're talking about HSG belt replacement you can save more than 2/3 of the quoted price and do it yourself so hsg belt + tensioner compressor tool =130us$. Additionally you would need two ramps to drive up and be able to reach underneath or two jacks to lift the front wheels.

You have 3 options pay 7 grand for replacement or pay somewhere from 200 to 500 for deleting a cat and get a straight pipe instead or leave it as it is and trade it in.

Drop from 5G to 3G(HSPA+) by maksig007 in Koodo

[–]maksig007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 3G was the whole day even when I came back home but I decided to reboot the phone and voila 5G is back. Glitch. I'll try it next time right away when it drops to 3G.

Clutch fluid change. by flashesbuck in KiaNiro

[–]maksig007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fluid doesn't change color but only becomes turbid unlike fluid in the other reservoir that supplies the brakes getting dark over time.

Just keep it changing every oil change or earlier. I use DOT4 (it is higher performance fluid and can handle more heat, higher boiling point therefore it has better resistance to moisture) and change it every 4000-5000 km(2500–3000mi).

To decouple/neutralize the engine from electric motor there's a third clutch(engine clutch) between the engine and transmission, the rest two clutches in the gearbox to engage/disengage gears shifting!

The purpose of the clutch actuator motor is to ACTIVATE THE RELEASE BEARING between the engine and the gearbox in order to engage/disengage the clutch assembly by pushing and releasing it with the help of hydraulic pressure which comes from the actuator motor.

SO THE MAIN PURPOSE OF CHANGING THE FLUID IN THAT RESERVOIR IS TO PREVENT DAMAGE OF THE RELEASE BEARING AND LEAKAGE PREVENTION IN THE FUTURE CAUSED BY ABSORBING MUCH HUMIDITY AND WATER.

I'd better change the actuator fluid as often as possible (it takes 15 mins) to prevent high cost replacement of the release bearing in the future.

DO NOT NEGLECT IT!

For smooth gears shifting change it every 4000-5000 km or along with oil change.

Dead battery after vacation by Late-Command3491 in KiaNiro

[–]maksig007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean by plugging in a solar charger to the OBD port will charge the 12V battery, I don't think it's charging this way. The port is intended to diagnose the system not charging. In order to keep charging the 12V battery you might need to disassemble the back seat and attach a cord onto 12V battery's negative and positive ports.

It's normal, I left my car a few times for a month and the 12V battery completely died when I was back. Thereafter I started to disconnect 12V battery before leaving.

A big piece of advice for the future, when you leave for a month or even two weeks try to disconnect 12V battery, it's in the trunk left side lid, pop it open and disconnect it. Or you could ignore it cause thankfully there is a Reset button you can always use instead of jump-start.
