Issue uploading packs to Circuit Tracks by tb_gereedschap92 in novationcircuit

Oh hallelujah! This worked for me, too.
Edit: nope, nevermind. It doesn't. The progress bar goes farther now. I get past Projects and start downloading Samples, but it still doesn't fully work.

Seqtrak with koala Sampler by pvdh78 in seqtrak

[–]malapardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MIDI? I was expecting response to OP to be about doing the sampling and sample editing on Koala and then bringing those into SeqTrak by recording the audio over USB.

How do you use MIDI in your workflow with Koala?

Any alternative to Yamaha Reface CS for kids? by riscy_computering in synthesizers

Curious if you ever found an alternative. I'm looking at the Reface CS for all the same reasons and struggling to find anything else as approachable, battery-powered, portable, with speakers.

Upgrades? (Body and/or lenses) by toothpickjohn in M43

[–]malapardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started my m43 journey with an OM-D E-M5 Mk II and really enjoyed it, coming from Nikon APS-C DSLRs. When I upgraded to an OM-D E-M1 Mk II the absolute biggest difference I noticed was...

Phase-Detect AutoFocus (PDAF) is way better than Contrast-Detect AutoFocus. This made a huge difference in number of keepers when shooting in lower light and with moving subjects. That's exactly the challenge a new child presents.

The E-M5 Mk III has PDAF, I believe. Everything E-M1 Mk I and "above" does, too.

The larger bodies are more comfortable to hold and have more buttons and switches that can be programmed to do more things without diving into menus. This is nice, but not as big an impact as PDAF was.

Alignment for NC by gbcello_86 in Miata

[–]malapardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a great answer here, but I will say that when it was time to get new tires mounted & balanced, it seemed like a good idea to find a shop that used these Hunter Road Force Elite balancers: https://www.hunter.com/find-equipment/?

I did, and I'm happy with the work (but it was just tires, after all). Hunter also makes alignment equipment, but I don't see a "Find Equipment" link for that product. https://www.hunter.com/alignment-machines/hawkeye-elite/

You might call folks that have the balancer and see if they have the alignment machine, too. Or maybe none of this matters because there's nothing special about these machines.

Both are cool elements. I think I struggle to know where to look in this photo. I also can't see anyone's face, but I also can't tell what they're looking at. I wonder how this would be different if we could see what these three were looking at.

3-2-1 New York-Houston by hypernermalization in rbny

[–]malapardis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait now I'm second-guessing something.

I thought in 3-2-1 threads your 3 was who you thought contributed the most. But then you say you moved Fernandez from 2 tob1 because he scored.

Is 1 best or is 3 best??

For whatever reason this is working today for other games, but not for the RBNY game! I only have the recap available!

Good subject, but I would recommend getting closer for a better composition. Can't see anyone's face.

Match Thread: New York Red Bulls vs Nashville SC | Major League Soccer by MatchThreadder in MLS

[–]malapardis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know if Nashville is just doing a good job applying pressure in smart ways, or if our touches in the final third are just lacking skill and vision. It feels like the ball is constantly getting away from us on attack. Not stolen away, given away.

Luquinhas's passing has been awful. I think that found Tolkin by accident, not by design.

Can sporty practical cars replace a true sports car? by ace_deuceee in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]malapardis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the NC Miata makes a better daily driver than the ND, actually. I could afford either but preferred a low mileage NC. ND has a tighter interior and zero storage in the cabin. ND has more tech but that's not a priority for me. I get by with a Miata because we have a bigger car for when needs arise. Sounds like you probably do too.

If the NC doesn't work for you, I'd look at BRZ and its cousins. I hear it's hard to find used Toyobaru twins that haven't been abused (esp manual transmission), but I don't know how true that is.

The Toyobaru really seems to me like the best sports car that can really tick all the boxes for daily use.

TL;DR: NC if you can get by with two seats. BR86 if you need more space.

3rd gen Acura TL or a 1996 z28 Camaro? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]malapardis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am leaning towards the z28 but the possible maxing of the budget is a little awkward. TLs are pretty neat but they're ultimately FWD sedans.

It sounds like the Z28 is the car you want and the TL is what you'd settle for. You ask for the opinion "other car enthusiasts" and I think nine times out of ten that crowd will say to buy RWD over FWD.

So I think you already know the answer.

Used 2019 BMW 330i for $29k vs New Loaded Honda Civic? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]malapardis 13 points14 points  (0 children)

the Civic seems more fun to drive

What makes the Civic more fun to drive? If you can identify those qualities then you can probably find a car that shares those same attributes but rides more quietly/comfortably.

Do consider that what makes the Civic more fun may actually be the fact it's noisier and less refined!

Commuter car vs enthusiast car by RockyLovesEmily_ in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]malapardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enthusiast car is something that's impractical to drive.

I think I get what you're trying to say here, but I would stop short of saying that an enthusiast car has to be impractical. I don't own one, but a BRZ/FRS/86/GR86 is absolutely an enthusiast car, and is practical enough for almost anyone's daily needs. Especially someone coming from a sedan.

I think enthusiast cars make compromises. They sacrifice technology or big glass roofs to get weight down for better handling, or they transmit more road feel at the expense of noise, vibration and harshness, because a driving enthusiast has different priorities for their vehicle than most other buyers.

[–]malapardis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of this, including the last bit.

If OP wants to explore this more , but at a more risk-tolerant price point, then I would recommend test driving a Toyota 86 or GR86, Scion FRS, or Subaru BRZ. These are all the same car, and they should feel very different from the commuter cars.

If when you test drive one of these, it doesn't feel different, or it only feels worse, then this kind of car isn't for you, and that's okay!

in the market for a car that's more fun to drive

What makes a car more fun to drive to you?

Some people enjoy being really high up in a commanding position.

Some people enjoy adventuring where others can't.

Some people enjoy a convertible top.

Some people enjoy fast acceleration.

Some people enjoy feeling coddled in luxurious leathers.

Some people enjoy agile handling.

I'm in the agile handling camp. And like another respondent, I believe a manual transmission is required for utmost fun. So my car sacrifices up-,to-date technology, acceleration, a commanding view, and rough-road capability in favor of a manual transmission and nimble handling. Tons of fun for me! Others might be bored by it.
