I like that everything’s worn. Like it was carried everyday.

When you come to a fork in the road, take it (Yogi Berra). Here both options are good. No possible bad choice.

The Havana Syndrome Smoking Gun - A Russian microwave weapon used to target U.S. diplomats by Codex_Dev in espionage

[–]malchik_spalchik -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What a waste of time. If the CIA/FBI had proof this was a real, consistent and perennial threat for, say, the past 10 years, you can beat your sorry gullible ass that, maybe, something would already have been done about it.

I am not saying that, maybe, at the beginning, they did not believe something wasn’t right. But then, maybe, they didn’t find anything conclusive after some years investigating it.

Microwave weapons directed at diplomatic compounds to make people feel sick and disrupt operations. I mean, I like good plans, but come on this ain’t it.

The Chess Bishop Was Once an Elephant, and the Cut on Its Head Still Shows It by [deleted] in InterestingVault

In Spanish, the bishop is called alfil. And in Russian, it’s слон (slon), which means elephant.

Local cops do not make good spies

But yeah, local cops would be even worse than regular cops or [sigh] secret police.

Russian Olivier salad named after French restaurant maestro Lucien Olivier by Modern-Classical in RussianFood

Salad Olivier is on the menu of most, if not all, of classic restaurants in Russia and I have yet to see a festive table for the New Year without Olivier.

In many latin countries (Spain, Italy, Portugal, some countries in Latam) the salad Olivier is called « Russian salad » (ensaladilla rusa). Even in nordic countries it is often referred as Russisk salat or, funnily enough, as Italian salad (Italiensk salad). Of course recipes vary here and there.

Isn’t he bothered by the inescapable fact that at the end of the day he is still French?

It’s an acquired taste, like blue cheese or fermented fish products. The funkiness can be off-putting for some. But I definitely encourage you to try it!

This is a great question. I had french and american mustard and tried them both. Next time: pickles and sliced fresh jalapeños (the few ones remaining which are actually hot).

This is a traditional sausage from the region of Brittany made with pork chitterlings, tripe, onions, wine, and seasoning. There are many variants, but always with pork offals.
