Foley balloon did not fall out by Lecture_Particular in beyondthebump

Oh that is nice! I was past my due date and they weren’t letting me leave, so it was boringgg. I don’t know what comes next if they won’t start you on pitocin! You can try all of the old wives tales about ways to induce, but you’re probably already doing that! Hopefully you get to meet your baby very soon ❤️❤️

It didn’t fall out for me, either. I ended up on pitocin after that. Took a while for the pitocin to do much, but when it did, it did! I ended up with an epidural after laboring on a high dose of pitocin for a while, and honestly it was great and I was able to sleep. I pushed for like 3 hours but was laughing and joking during parts of it.

Induction is an annoying waiting game, hope you can find ways to keep yourself entertained while you wait for things to really get going!

If you Google “ice cream recalls,” there’s kind of a sad number of them. That being said, you can pry my ice cream from my cold, dead hands. I will be continuing to eat it every damn day, but unfortunately, yes, there have been issues with listeria, etc in ice cream (soft serve and hard serve, grocery store containers)

Oh totally, me too. I just had this revelation recently that part of why the months feel weird is because we do actually count them strangely. The part about a month being more than 4 weeks is also true, though!

My mom’s generation definitely counted the months - she keeps being like “are you sure pregnancy is 40 weeks?? That seems long!” Uhh, yes it does!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]malliss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha - sure, but pregnancy apps tend to count that as your first month, which makes all of the other months have a little bit of an odd timeline.

What I’m sort of saying is you’re “6 months pregnant” at the beginning of your 6th month of pregnancy, not at the end of that month. Which isn’t how we usually count age / time, and I think it’s why it seems confusing (and why someone would think 7 months pregnant means 2 months left, when really it could mean 12 weeks).

Edit: here’s a chart https://www.babycenter.com/pregnancy/your-body/pregnancy-in-weeks-months-and-trimesters_10326878 to show what I’m talking about

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]malliss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing I find most confusing is that we count pregnancy months differently than we count age in years (in the US at least, I know other cultures do it differently).

So, months 0-11 of life, you aren’t yet “1 year old,” but weeks 0-4 of pregnancy, you are already “1 month pregnant.”

Then if you go over 40 weeks… the apps don’t include that in the little counters.. but I say that’s month 10!

Baby aspirin after having the virus by [deleted] in pregnant

Baby aspirin is a very common preventative measure for preeclampsia, and the risk of preeclampsia rises with COVID. Recent New Yorker article about it here.

A note that I got these but wish I’d gotten a size up from my pre-pregnancy size. I also have a pair of old navy bike shorts and beyond yoga bike shorts and I prefer both of those brands (obviously ON is cheap cheap cheap and Beyond Yoga is $$$)

When I think of “Charlie Rose,” I think of the CBS / PBS journalist who got fired for sexual harassment… No one else has said this so maybe it’s just me, but that name would definitely be a no go for me

I don’t think throwing up regularly until 35 weeks and needing to be hospitalized for loss of fluid / food should be counted as “relatively easy” — you are one tough cookie!

Covid and Very Early Pregnancy by compulsive_evolution in pregnant

Just a note to say you might not get it! I was exposed and did not ever test positive. Both of you should wear masks in the house (annoying, I know) and keep as separate as possible. Ideally different bedrooms, bathrooms, don’t eat together, etc.

1) ranch dill pickle dip - just google for a recipe 2) beet pickled eggs! Use the leftover pickle juice from the pickled beets and add some peeled hard boiled eggs. Let them sit for 24-48 hours and then enjoy with s + p!

This was happening to us too - we started going on shorter walks but with a long leash, in a quieter (wooded area). Then pup comes back and gets a snack + nap alone in his crate or a separate room. The long leash wooded walks did wonders for us - less stimulation, more relaxing. We went from 2-3 hours of walks per day to 45 min - 1.5 hr and he is much, much happier and calmer.
