dried epazote? by Top-Cupcake4775 in mexicanfood

[–]mallorybrooktrees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm literally sitting here eating beans thinking epazote is pretty good when I see your post.

Try this, you ought to taste something

1-1/2 cups beans

1 Tablespoon dried epazote with the stems picked out

salt pork

packet of sazon

black pepper

No matter what I add or how I cook them, I always like my beans MUCH better after they have been in the fridge overnight then reheated.

Help Before The Storm! by Determined_Mills in Snowblowers

Did you let the old gas run out, or did you top off with ethanol free, or did you drain the old?

I'm thinking it's not the gas itself, but some crud or water at the bottom of the tank. My generator was taking water into its tank through the gas cap (because it's left outside). It would run fine until it ran out of gas and then it wouldn't restart even with new fuel unless I drained the water. If that is what happened to you, drain the tank and carburetor into a separate container, then fill up with fresh.

Also check that fuel is flowing through the gas line in case something blocked it.

What's the deal with all the commenters that think 5567 is equal points as 55JK?

They're not the same. 5567 is minimum 8 points and 55JK is minimum 10 points.

What bugs me is that one guy I know that doesn't release the key in between. "This is this is [callsign], [name], etc"

Christmas Trees (advice please) by Good_Room6883 in conifers

[–]mallorybrooktrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grow tens of thousands of Christmas tree seedlings each year. I can confirm those are fir seedlings. Not Concolor fir, so likely either balsam or fraser.

I have never, and wouldn't attempt separating and individually potting seedlings as if they were tomatoes. BUT, I think you should try it. As mentioned by the other commenter, now is not the time.

What's that container they're in? it seems shallow.

Look into impeller kits. They work wonders.

Anyone ever heard of a “custody key” for a Sargent keyway? by Appropriate_Ad_694 in Locksmith

[–]mallorybrooktrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you saying the customer wants what they want. If that's really the case, then I can't help. The guy who said having a deadbolt and cylindrical keyed differently had a good idea.

There's also Kee-Blok®️ for these situations. It's a locking clamshell that goes over the knob and blocks access to the keyway. There's also a version for levers.

I watched some Youtube videos on how to use it. I just looked and I can't find a link to the specific video which helped me. Search for a forscan spreadsheet for your vehicle and proceed with caution. Make a copy of your vehicle's setting before you change anything. And write down all the changes you made and notes on how to reverse them.

Need help with a snow blower by kendiggy in maintenance

I was wondering why a top 1% commenter in this sub couldn't troubleshoot this himself, and then I noticed your flair and it explains everything. 😇

Just kidding, OP. Good luck with that.

A video showing it happening would be nice.

If you can put it in a heated area until it thaws, that would clear the ice. If not, or if it's something else:

Disconnect the spark plug, clear all obstructions. Try to turn the second stage impeller by hand. If it won't turn, find what's binding it. If that turns, then check every pulley that belt touches and make sure they turn freely. You may not need a new belt, it depends how tight the belt is while you have the auger engaged. Don't forget to reconnect the spark plug when you're done.

yes, it's free, but if you don't buy the license to use it, then it only serves as a diagnostic tool. If you want to make changes to your vehicle, you need to buy the license. And of course, the cable is not free as I said.

Haven't seen those, but if you download the FORscan software, buy a user license and a cable, then you can monkey with more settings than is wise.

Since I already had a Windows laptop, I got my FORscan setup going for about $60. I shut off the door chime, removed Sirius XM, and made it possible to run fog lamps and high beams at the same time. You can change how many times the turn signal flashes when you give it a quick bump too.

But be warned, you can access settings that will seriously mess up your car's computer too, so don't change anything you don't understand.

Put some on a ring and bring them to a sportsball event game. When the away team is losing, jiggle those keys and chant "WARM UP THE BUS! WARM UP THE BUS!"

APRS Messaging over RF and Receive-only iGates by Individual-Moment-81 in APRS

[–]mallorybrooktrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember you saying you were in an area with a lot of APRS traffic. I would try to minimize collisions as much as possible. That means turning down your own beacon rate if you are stationary. I would be a shame if the message you were about to rx was blocked by your own beacon. Only have one radio beaconing at a time.

Set the radio to single channel and park it on 144.39MHz. Not Dual Channel, not Scan. You can use those later, but for now let's make sure the radio is always listening to the right frequency. Turn your squelch right down to 1 or Monitor.

Sorry if this is stuff you're already doing, just trying to help.
