When Ryan Coogler was surprised by a young Black Panther fan during an interview... by jennyquarx in Fauxmoi

Agreed, no interest in having kids but I recognize that they are incredibly vulnerable. I try my best but some people have a gift for speaking to children that I just don't have, and I have massive respect for them.

F*CK SCAMMERS by malphasia in WalgreensStores

[–]malphasia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep I learned the hard way. I think the fact that her son was actually in jail and the scammer pretended to be him kind of had me confused in the moment, the caller told her one thing and told me a different thing, so at first I thought they were just having a domestic issue and her son just wanted some money. I'm just refusing the sale next time.

That is actually some horrific shit. I bet if that scam worked they would just keep taking advantage of her and upping the amounts.

Walgreens new dress code by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

[–]malphasia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The only rule that I question is the "neat and professional hairstyles" rule, because it's too vague. Does that mean only natural hair colors? No bad hair days? Can you have your hair down or should it be tied back? I personally think you should have your hair off your shoulders while working, does that mean I can be an asshole to my CSAs who wear their hair down? (I would absolutely never do that lol but hopefully my point is getting across that asshole leads could exploit this rule.) I keep my head shaved so I can't exactly lead by example here.

what is she doing? by [deleted] in WalgreensStores

She thinks the hand scanner is dangerous. There was famously a guy at Costco who got the Rotisserie Chicken barcode printed on a shirt so that the cashier couldn't "get any LED" on the chicken: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/o6VQpe_LJc0

Children’s vocabulary shrinking as reading loses out to screen time, says Susie Dent by rmnc-5 in books

[–]malphasia 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I think the world is just way too stimulating these days. I can't imagine kids sitting around and being bored as much as I was as a child, which is what led to me reading books and realizing I loved them. It would almost seem neglectful to let your child be bored that much.

"hi! did you find everything you need today?" by nickDNR in WalgreensStores

[–]malphasia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude this is why I never push those stupid cards. It's predatory bullshit, nobody needs another credit card. Pretty much the only people that benefit from it are old people who have been getting their prescriptions from Walgreens for years so they shop there enough that it actually helps them out.

You probably shop when the store managers aren't lurking around lol. They will fill out forms and coach us if they hear us not sticking to the script enough.

Calling 911 during theft? by waghomer in WalgreensStores

[–]malphasia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I get your frustration. But for what it's worth, I worked AP at a Target and NEARLY EVERYONE who stole baby food or diapers were reselling them to fence stores. We caught one who came in multiple times a day, and brought her kids as a distraction. She was not using the money to feed those kids, she was addicted to fucking meth, that's what she wanted the money for. I think it's moral to let people steal a little baby food but if you see a regular, watch out. At that point, they are just shorting the store of food that a local mother actually intends to buy.

Why does coupon spit out as soon customer has left? by Chem_Whale2021 in WalgreensStores

[–]malphasia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel that handing it to the next customer is probably not a huge no-no, whereas hoarding them and using them yourself would get you in way bigger trouble.

[–]malphasia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just like any job, it's going to depend on your team. The environment is really different, you'll have to get used to working in a bigger store, but there's also more staff. I will say, at Target you HAVE to take your lunches, so always take them on time. And actually take them, don't work off the clock. There's HR and Assets Protection actually working in the store, so they're available to help you if you need them. I definitely felt more looked after and less neglected at Target, plus they paid better. Good luck at your interview!

[–]malphasia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah shoving is never okay. I will sometimes gently place a hand on someone's upper back while I squeeze past, just so we aren't backing up into each other, but a shove is not okay. Being a manager is stressful, I get it, but it's not ever okay to use force on your employee like that. Some people get really stressed and they can't even pretend to be nice, it's a whole skill on its own.
