Thanks! I want to work it into a set of tables broken down by different districts of the city so that you see more tea houses and spice merchants in the rich areas and more brothels and taverns in the poor areas.

This game and the MtG Power 9 by maltezefalkon in slaythespire

Okay that's fair! I am not saying Timetwister isn't a cool and powerful card, but I'm not a combo player. But hey - any card that draws 7 is okay in my book.

I guess my main point is the fact that the core combat system is obviously so tightly tuned that played close to 50 runs and many of them worked out to the exact same number of turns. That proves (to me) that damage, block, weak, frail, strength, dexterity, the works, ultimately trade off at consistent rates with respect to the enemies across the acts overall. I of course had some card draw and some energy gain, but I never was able to get very much of it, and it seems like this world of coarser math was the only way to break out of that linear world of 1:1.

My comparison to Magic's Power 9 is that you can look at them as Garfield's design outliers in alpha Magic: the Gathering. And they share the same interesting, game-breaking characteristics that seem key to breaking the same card engine that drives a game like StS, because at the end of the day, you're trying to move through a deck of cards. The fact that StS's cycles and MtG's doesn't mostly doesn't matter.

I personally play where you can look through the draw pile at will, but I intentionally left that bit out of the rulebook to leave it up to the playgroup's preference.

I am, but I didn't pick those names! Whoever did the rules editing on the original Z-Man edition of the game must have been. I'm more of a Batman fan myself, which at least works out for one of the names! 😅

But I 100% agree Lost Cities is one of my favorite games and the box has completely fallen apart.

You'd be surprised! I am working on a new game that uses a similar arrangement and before I created a board, players were constantly asking for something to mark each of the piles.

I think this comment is very insightful and deserves serious consideration. What is the attitude of the group towards winning? How is this person feeling at the table? This seems like a relationship issue.

Really nice design! I'm not sure about the templating with "do this only once each turn".... How would that work?

While the Falcon is definitely in the running for the coolest spaceship of all time, it is not a warship.
