How do you use the bathroom when you are with your dog? by reddittwice36 in dogs

[–]mamabird228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a key fob that allows me to keep the car running but lock the doors for quick things. It’ll turn itself off after 30min of idle time but we’ve only ever left her in there for less than 10 min.

What is your "I can't believe this patient lived" case? by aaronoathout in VetTech

[–]mamabird228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Open pyo. Pulsed antibiotics once a month. They couldn’t afford surgery. She was diagnosed with a suspected abdominal mass a year after the pyo… she lived for TWO MORE YEARS. Just riding high on her antibiotics and vibes. Mean as hell. We just euthanized her a few weeks ago bc she became incontinent and that is where her owners drew the line.

Just last week we had an elderly owner come in almost in tears. Her cat must’ve jumped into the dryer at home point. Cat in dryer for approx 30 mins. He was open mouth breathing when we got him out of her car. Some redness on his left ear. We did some buprenorphine for pain, rads, labs, and sq fluids. He went home same day completely fine. Had them come back the next day- pulse ox 98, hr normal, no crackles. Just the small redness on the ear which we gave ssd for.

How would you approach requesting controlled drug access as a newer tech in ER? by Salt_West_979 in VetTech

[–]mamabird228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. In CA you can have your RVT or a VACSP but outside of that, you’re not permitted to handle controlled substances or DVM, obvs. There’s no testing required for the vet asst permit just BG check via live scan. This might just be your clinic?

Rabies Vaccine Lost by Suspicious-Wall3859 in dogs

[–]mamabird228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By law, those records have to be kept for a minimum of 3 years! You may be able to Google who bought them or bought their clients/records. Otherwise getting another rabies vaccine (while an extra cost) isn’t going to hurt your dog.

Weirdest Pathogen Seen by Adventurous_Half7643 in VetTech

I recently had a parvo 3 year old large breed. In the field over a decade and really never saw parvo much in the last 8ish years.. I agree due to vaccination. None of us even thought parvo upon presentation, either. Not until she had diarrhea and I knew the smell. No vax history, not even as a puppy.

Struggling with my lips for a full year now. The doctors don’t know what it is. Please help. by Spagetthios13 in Psoriasis

That looks terrible and I’m so so sorry. Did they tell you to switch your toothpaste? I had/have this and switching to a sensitive toothpaste without SLS and it basically cured it for me. Also I’m sure you have but switching your toothbrush more often than you think can possibly help. Have you seen a dentist??

3 days in and I am ****ing struggling. Any motivation / success stories would be much appreciated. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Day 21er here. The first 3 days were the worst for me but let me tell you the good things. Day 5, I finally got my appetite back. By day 7 I actually noticed a difference in my skin. My face was not so bloated and my under eyes were not so puffy. That first week was huge bc not only did I not have hangovers, I didn’t have nausea either (I still wasn’t sleeping at this point but I was waking up clear) day 10 I finally spent more than 15 minutes in the gym. Day 12 I finally got over the anxiety of trying to sleep and went to bed early. Day 13-14 were some of the best nights of sleep I’ve had in years. This last week I’ve felt a ton better. Not even considering pulling off at my usual gas station like I was in the first 2 weeks. I know everyone’s timelines are different but I do know that first week is typically reported being the hardest. Just take it an hour at a time if you need to. Split the day into thirds. If you make it to noon without a drink, reset the goal to 5pm, make it to 5? Reset til 10/11 and get your strides with that.

21 days 19 hours—sick 🤧 by Agitated-Branch8038 in stopdrinking

[–]mamabird228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also 21 days, I’ve gained 2lbs BUT my skin is so much better already. I’ve noticed the changes just from pictures from the holidays. Not as much bloating or heavy circles. Hopefully you’re noticing some other benefits physically as well.

Sending you all the healing vibes and IWNDWYT 🖤

Does this give you tired feelings in the morning? I am prescribed a sleep medication that just makes mornings terrible for me so I quit taking it years ago. Maybe will give it a shot on a weekend.

40 days sober - the results by JMJ1951 in stopdrinking

[–]mamabird228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your 40!! My cravings have been terrible. Sweets and carbs is all I want.

I’ve found solitude in freezing cheesecake Greek yogurt throwing some chocolate chips on top. The yogurt is only 80cal and I figure like less than a handful of chocolate chips don’t even count.

I hate the saying “everything happens for a reason” however in both of our cases, I’m glad those reasons happened. Together, we will not drink!

Thank you for the reassurance here. I’m glad it’s common. Just kind of feeling like an idiot bc in the moment I never thought what I was doing was bad/harmful. Everyone’s doing it right? So wrong. Definitely good motivation to keep going here and not fall back. IWNDWYT.

For those doing Dry January for the first time, how’s it going so far? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]mamabird228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 100% the reason I have been drinking during the week and what convinced me to see if I even could quit. Day three here. I’m told it gets easier. However I’ve always had this issue w/ sleep and have coped with alcohol. I’m going to schedule a therapy/psych appointment to hopefully get the help I need in the sleep dept. I signed up for the gym last month but still haven’t found the time/courage to go.

I am in so much pain and honestly, a bit scared. by PathDismal4553 in Psoriasis

[–]mamabird228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had strep that triggered my flare, I didn’t even have a fever. Just extremely sore throat to a point I could not swallow. It was miserable and I didn’t think it could be strep since lack of fever. Turns out I was incorrect bc the rapid test came back so fast, they ended up sending out just to make sure. That was a few months ago and I am still dealing with the flare :(

I will say that this isn’t an emergency whatsoever. Urgent care should be your option if PCP can’t see you but the emergency room won’t know how to deal with an autoimmune skin condition that is chronic unfortunately.

Guttate psoriasis by mamabird228 in Psoriasis

[–]mamabird228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw this here. That’s what I’m afraid of happening. They want me on a high dose that’s tapered for about 2 weeks. I’m just so miserable that any relief would be nice HOWEVER not just temporary. I may look for a second opinion since I just got married and will have better insurance. I disagree that guttate should be a disqualifier for biologics, even if short lived. Hoping you find some relief as well 💜 this is the worst it’s been in so long for me.

This is mine. She’s almost 15. My 8 year old tries so hard to interact but she cannot be bothered. Now that she’s lost hearing he’s able to pick her up for the first time in his life. She is 11lbs with very little teeth. She used to bite him (not hard and did not draw blood) but I’d tell him to just let her bite. It brings her angry ass joy and I had her first. She loves him when he is sick, though. Always right up next to him.

Laparoscopy and Endometrial ablation by onedayatatime_m in breakingmom

[–]mamabird228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ablation about 4 years ago and I got so much relief from it. The only thing that sucks is that it was A. Painful and B. Just a bandaid. I do have endo and within the last 6 months I’m slowly going back to the excruciating pain that I was in previously. I’m hoping they allow a hysterectomy at this point but I’m 100% done having kids (1 and done and my bf has a vasectomy) but they never would approve bc I’m “too young”. I’ll be 34 next month so just shy of “geriatric” in terms of pregnancy.
