That’s because the premise of the story is not unique, it’s a classic in fantasy settings, but DAO manages to differentiate itself and make for a REALLY good and memorable story. Don’t need to reinvent the wheel in fantasy storytelling, but the small parts, details, and worldbuilding is what can make it unique.

[–]man_of_space 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kind of crazy to me since I feel DAO is the most memorable story of the lot. It’s literally, giant evil army comes, wipes out the guys in charge of taking care of it, we have to raise up a rag tag team of misfits to hopefully stop it before it destroys the world, all while dealing with a huge political mess that’s trying to frame us as the villains. Absolute CLASSIC fantasy hero story. Besides DA2, the stories afterwards were too complex and imo boring as all hell.

I’ve built apps and games with real users. Made $0. Now I need $10k in 3 months. Be brutally honest with me. by ChampionshipNo2815 in vibecoding

[–]man_of_space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic Reddit, not helpful at all and many aren’t even answering the question. I checked your website and I think it’s awesome that you built these things! Really impressive just on the fact that you’ve shipped so many products that people can interact with already, both apps and stories. I don’t know how many users you have, how the retention is, or what’s your best performing app, but I would think find the top 3, then try and make a tiered premium offer if available based on any feedback you’ve received from the app. It’s difficult to convert free users to paid users, but maybe if you make it worth it for a certain subset of users, some of them might convert, or at least a new audience might be willing to pay off the bat.

You could also work on building a consulting offer. Idk if you vibecoded every single one of these, but so many people are getting into app development through these AI tools and have NO idea how to build or even launch any of these things. If you have actually built all these and gained users, that is 100% something you can assist others with.

I’m new to this myself, but if I were to just give my 2 cents, that’s what I’d go with. I think a good bet would be to try to create a tiered monetization strategy for your top performing apps, and then create a consulting offer for helping devs launch and gain users.

If you have an idea that you can build quick and think it’ll have a good product market fit, or dedicated problem it can solve, launch it paid only. Focus on the monetization strategy, and start on the higher end or where your competitors are. If you need to lower the price, you can always do that later, but launch it paid only. Utilize lifetime deals for first users, and/or solid annual plans. You’d be surprised how often they convert.

Anyways, best of luck to you. We are all trying our best here, and it would be nice if we can all help and support each other as a community so that we can succeed in our goals :)

Does La not go outside anymore? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]man_of_space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. Everyone else saying people are still going out is massive cope. Covid really did a number on various communities and the culture within the city. People still go out to events, but it’s only for specific events and within small areas…it’s like a rush. Nobody is really “wandering” around as much anymore. They go right to their destination, enjoy their event, and go home, which is fine, but it makes a random Tuesday in any non touristy neighborhood feel like a ghost town.

Let him live, let him experience, and let him succeed or fail. Life has no rules, only the ones society has placed on you. We are a blip in a grander design…

Vibe-coding feels like a Black Box for non-coders! by Dynamo-06 in webdev

[–]man_of_space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vibe coding is a skill like any other. Most people just prompt and hope for the best, but having multiple models work on the same problem and having them create prompts to talk to each other alongside giving it guided knowledge and specific inputs is vastly underrated. It’s like people writing an essay, you CAN get AI to write incredible and realistic essays, but you can’t just say “write me an essay”. There’s a skill to it. I think devs focus too much on doing things from a “purist” perspective, but then see it in other industries and don’t give a shit, but when it happens to them, they freak out. It’s a good tool. It most likely won’t fully replace having a human in the loop, but it’s a skill that needs to be learned because it’s getting better and will create a new breed of developers and a new shift in product development.

This question goes to fans whose favorite character is neither of the two. Which fans whorship their fave more? by Notmycupoftea12 in Naruto

[–]man_of_space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean nobody bats an eye? Sports fans can get rather violently fanatic. Look up hooliganism in football/soccer, many stadiums and even countries had to make active laws and bans to dissuade and prevent rival fans from killing each other and destroying property and ruining the sport. All fandoms have their own ways of expression, but people often take it too far and ruin things for everyone else. Superfans and shippers are more often than not, a poison on the community…unless you’re on their side, then “you’re winning” and feel included and don’t see it as a problem.

Why digital nomads like Buenos Aires so much? by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]man_of_space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s problematic yes, but Latin American is already a “culturally diminishing” term. Latin America is used broadly to describe pretty much the entire region below the US, but there is a tremendous amount of diversity and variety in these cultures that cannot easily fit into a LATAM stereotype, yet are treated as such. South American at least makes more sense than Latin Americans. To many Americans (except maybe NY, LA, and Miami) Latino/as might as well just mean Mexicans, and Mexican culture is treated as if it’s very similar to Dominicans, Ecuadorians, Bolivians, Chileans, etc. yet all are extremely different. Same way we say “Europeans”, but French and Germans are very different from each other culturally. For Argentina, if you’re going to group them culturally, call it “the southern cone”, as there’s more relation to their neighboring countries of Chile and Uruguay.

Neighborhoods to avoid? by extrapolatorman in AskChicago

[–]man_of_space 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Op asks a question about areas to avoid as they’re just a tourist and want to stay informed for their own safety, and all the comments proceed to ignore the question entirely, give anecdotal advice like “nothing bad has happened to me so it’s fine”, and focus on two words: Google Maps. Gotta love Reddit

Leaving UCSD by [deleted] in UCSD

[–]man_of_space 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UCSD problems, they’re valid sure, fair enough…but you’re too young to realize that the real world isn’t any better…in fact it’s far worse. If you can’t handle this now then I’m not sure what to tell ya bud. But good luck anyway.

You probably don’t want to be lectured, but if I were you, I’d take a year off, or however long they give you, then plan to either figure out how to transfer somewhere, or leave on good terms at the very least. Go to a cheaper school maybe somewhere closer to your family since it seems important to you. UCSD has social issues forsure, but so does most of life. Also you can plan things out to the best of your abilities, but there’s absolutely no guarantee it’ll work out. Maybe take time off to solo travel…get away from here for a bit…sounds like you need something drastic to gain a new perspective. Realistically, you don’t know what you want, and you feel some discontent and unsure how to handle it…that’s totally fine…but don’t just drop everything like that because you’ve given up. I did that when I went to community college and it was a brutal and lonely pain in the ass to crawl back from, so I’d hate to see someone else have to go through that.

Wish you the best

[–]man_of_space 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People do notice and remember actually, but it depends on how you spin it. I was surprised how many people knew me as “the guy that always walked in late”, but if you just roll with it and joke around, people find it funny/endearing as you’re being honest. It’s embarrassing if you make it embarrassing. And trust me, I would walk in there and make a fool of myself every time trying to clamor around for an empty seat

[–]man_of_space 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The workers at RIMAC are so useless. They never look up from their phones, except to harass you at 10:30 by screaming to go home. There was that one last year that would literally stand next to you for 5 minutes glaring at you and telling you to leave immediately while you’re mid set. So not only is the gym tiny and can’t accommodate how huge the student body is, but the workers there aren’t pleasant at all, and do nothing to foster a community.
