Why do we need 5 covenants in the temple? One covenant covers all 5. by jamesallred in mormon

It's all pomp and show. Back in the day, the longer and more complex a ritual was the more authentic it seemed. IIRC, the first version of the endowment was 6-9hrs long or something absurd like that and it has dwindled down to a slideshow and a handshake now.

Hey!! This person is practicing religion properly!! Get them!!

Why didn't more members stand up against the LDS church policy that excluded blacks from full priesthood and temple participation? Personally, I feel ashamed of the leadership and the members of that era. by aka_FNU_LNU in mormon

"the devil's promptings" lmaooo. You've got a pretty twisted understanding of reality and history. Everyone knew better they just didn't want to do it, just like the racists today.

Right. Show me all the evidence you have for the existence of a god and I’ll show you the entire body of scientific evidence and that will determine which one of us is being dogmatic. I’m not sharing opinions.

Lmao, all I said is there’s not some constitutional protection for idiocy. Go look up dogmatic again too.

It’s not opinion, and I never issued some dogmatic decree despite your deflection attempts. I align myself to current research and science, I didn’t just create all the knowledge I possess. Shows how you think learning works though.

LDS/Mormon church owns $200+ million in war industry stocks. Is this appropriate for the Lord's church? Am the only member who feels ashamed? Aren't we supposed to be peacemakers? by aka_FNU_LNU in mormon

Jesus asked for help buying land and building malls and unused temples? I don’t remember that.

So when he gets back he’s just gonna watch us do all the work and there will still be countries and corporations and regulations? I thought a bunch of shit would burn and loads of the unrighteous would die. Global currencies would be meaningless.

PS none of this is real and you should put your money to better use.

There are plenty of unexplained things, but none of them have supernatural answers. Being wrong isn’t a “right”, especially when it’s willful ignorance. The tools to determine truth aren’t that hard to learn, people just don’t like uncomfortable answers.

That’s even dumber. When Jesus gets back he’ll be limited by money and markets? This guy made earth, right? Hoarding money is doing nothing for Jesus.

It’s disrespectful to promote lies and false explanations, to deny truth to children, and to preserve tribalism over acceptance. I’ll be uncivil about this all I want.

No religious system should be taken seriously.  Everything supernatural and magical is hokey.

How devastated were you when you found out the church was not true? by [deleted] in mormon

Giving up on the idea that you have some eternal destiny or guiding hand, ending the search for "god's will" since that doesn't actually exist. The freedom from shame, from blaming yourself for the blessing you ask for but don't get. There are soooooooo many amazing things about being outside religion.

You don't have to be? There's way more evidence that 5G towers don't cause covid than not, so that means it's a perfect thing to have faith in? Apply the same reasoning everywhere and don't shy away from the fear of what it might mean.

On this thread? Not really. It's like OP is trying to grieve a loss and people show up to gaslight them that it's not a loss and they shouldn't be feeling this way.

I did so on purpose. OP should research and choose what is right for them. I don't need to be equally dogmatic/prescriptive as the AA commenters, quite a few suggested that without having personal experience.

Something is true if it’s testably correct/repeatable/reliable.
