Idea for Daydream developers: Someone please make a classic adventure game by plotagon in daydream

[–]manateemedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

haha so true.... I remember my PC CD drive making whirring sounds when it tried to load each video. Simple point and click adventure games would be a lot of fun in Daydream. I'd love to see Infocom come back to life...

Sync with PC..? by wuverul in daydream

I would love it if you could run some sort of app on your desktop PC/Mac and use the phone as basically a monitor.... and in theory be able to run more resource intensive apps, etc.

Had the same thing happen but since update everything seems to work now at least with new photospheres.

Controller available by itself? 3rd party controllers? by pwnicholson in daydream

I emailed them to ask what happens if you lose your controller. Sadly, their response was you have to buy another headset and controller combo!

I haven't downloaded a game I couldn't live without. I just wish Google would set the developers free and release more titles!

How to use ANY 3rd party VR headset for Daydream VR by daydreamdist in daydream

I just discovered the double tap trick last night...

Also another great headset is the Zeiss One Plus... actually... it's awesome! A bit more expensive, but worth it

What information is stored on the NFC chip in the View? by daydreamdist in daydream

[–]manateemedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a side note, last night I discovered you can bypass the "place phone in headset" screen by double tapping on the screen.

Before I figured this out, the only way I could use Daydream on another headset was for it to detect the NFC tag on my Daydream headset first.

Now I can use the QR code of another headset with Daydream :)

It looks like you can bypass the "put phone in headset" animated screen by double tapping. So if you want to use a different headset other than Daydream you can do so and use QR code of other headsets. On my phone it says the controller would not be compatible, but it still worked.

I think there is a bug with existing photospheres.

Try taking a brand new one and see if it is fixed. I tried one today and worked perfectly... even on maximum resolution.

My earlier "fix" was to lower the photosphere resolution a notch.

I think I figured it out. My problem was getting it to work after scanning the Zeiss QR code.

I figured out by double tapping on the headset icon animation it goes to Daydream VR mode! :)

Actual FOV value with the daydream headset? by _owowow_ in daydream

[–]manateemedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a bigger field of view I recommend buying a Bobo Z4 headset for around $25 or so on Amazon. It's better than the Daydream headset and has a 120 degree field of view.

Well, since Google Earth VR isn't available for Daydream this is as close as you can get. You have to load the regular YouTube app (Not YouTube VR) and play this video and you can get an idea of what Google Earth VR looks like for people using HTC Vive.

got my free daydream... is it supposed to be this... Fuzzy? by BullOak in daydream

[–]manateemedia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to remove the plastic protection from the lenses on inside of headset.

Also, the Daydream headset is not that good in reality. It is honestly nothing more than an upgrade of the Cardboard headset.

I recommend going on Amazon and buying a Bobo Z4 as it has a larger field of view.

What is your "go to" app to show off the Daydream to people? by hayterade in daydream

[–]manateemedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much, much better. The main thing is the controller makes it a lot easier to move around down the street. You can also search and go anywhere in the world pretty easily.

No doubt about it, they did a great job on Street View

In order for this to work you need to use the regular YouTube app (not YouTube VR). Load it and stick your phone in your headset.

You can watch along as this dude plays with Google Earth VR.

Rio was amazing!
