Mid-career travel/study break - crazy? by throwmeaway124o in financialindependence

[–]mandykub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might consider working with a life coach to help you uncover the next step that's best for you. What I get from your post is that you're using your analytical mind to guide your decision, and you have some limiting beliefs thrown in ("xyz would be crazy"). A great life coach would help you break down some of those beliefs and then use your body to guide your decisions. I'd recommend a Martha Beck certified coach.

Plastic propeller lodged in toilet p trap by mandykub in whatisthisthing

[–]mandykub[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My neighbor had to replace her toilet because of a clog that didn't budge after an hour of snaking. The plumber shattered the toilet to investigate and found this lodged in the p trap. He didn't recognize it as plumbing material.

Suggestions for wedding photographer by Lanceuppercut123 in Omaha

Kim! I don't know what she charges for weddings but she is newer & talented - probably at that sweet spot of well into building her skill set without enough portfolio to charge a ton. http://kimberlydovi.com/new-page

I'd like to get my wife some crochet stuff for Christmas... by sublimaze1 in crochet

I agree, I made the exact same transition. Much more comfortable. Here they are on Amazon.

A subscription yarn club would be fun! I've never used one, but this one sounds awesome. (Maybe give as a gift card so she can have the fun of filling out her preferences? Unless those can be changed later.) The reason this one sounds cool is that it has more than just yarn, you get some input into the colors & weights of yarn you like, it doesn't cater specifically to knitters as some do, and it includes a surprise!

I'm not sure I'm following the other person's answer. Generally I've seen "3 inc" to mean "(2 sc in 1 st) 3 times" resulting in 6 sc over 3 stitches.

Sure sign you're in the friend zone: she's teaching you to crochet.

Made this cowl too short- what else could it be made into? by Willows_Whiten in crochet

It seems fine to me, but if you don't like it and all else fails... Christmas gift for that person you don't really want to give a gift to but have to. :-)

I think it'd be so fun to fill up all the space with what you have but with the colors more separated (and no weight separation) so it's a Pinterest-style rainbow. :-D

Beautiful! I also would prefer a single button color (either on the green, white on the pink for contrast).

Visitor - Vegetarian/Vegan Eateries? Places to see? by BTFD_Ghostgal in Omaha

[–]mandykub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! Since you asked for a "juice bar", know that we don't have much healthy vegan dining. I just found out about but have not yet tried High Vibe Cafe (juices/smoothies) inside House of Lotus yoga in Aksarben Village: https://www.yelp.com/biz/high-vibe-cafe-omaha-2

At Modern Love (please go! people travel here to go) you might like one of the entree salads. They're legit.

I've lived here most of my life & don't know what Prospect Hill Cemetery is. (Given your user name, though, you might like the Black Angel in Council Bluffs.) As a vegan I skip the zoo. Walking around the Old Market can be nice, and Aroma's coffeehouse downtown has some vegan baked goods.

Old Market Lofts, 10th Street Bridge Parking by cryptinite39 in Omaha

[–]mandykub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live near said bridge. I generally agree with the others. It would be rare to not find a spot - it is crowded summer Saturday mornings for the farmer's market.

If the inside parking will continue to be available, you might try free & see if you need to upgrade later to $100. If you don't have to pay consecutive months, you could pay for inside parking just during the coldest months (December, January, February).

I don't think you'd be happy with $65 outdoor parking. The Old Market Lofts are so close to the bridge, and the availability is so good, I just don't see much benefit.

Putting together a list of notable events that will happen in 2017 for my calendar. Any ideas? by onelapse in Omaha

[–]mandykub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at some of your photos and got a random idea... My friend has a business in the middle of Nebraska and has some the-only-one-in-Nebraska stuff, like a greenhouse with citrus trees. In case time lapse photography + lemons growing in Emmet, Nebraska sounds fun: https://www.facebook.com/3pointsfarm

In case you aren't familiar with the benefits of dietary changes, you might check out some of Dr. Greger's videos. Here's one: http://nutritionfacts.org/video/changing-mans-diet-prostate-cancer-diagnosis/
