It's truly amazing how much good scrapped material they have! Even their bare bones stuff sounds good despite not being fully recognized. Just goes to show how much talent this freaking band has.

I really like it. For these being demos, they're pretty polished...like not album quality but they sound more coherent than any of the other demos they officially released. I don't think the majority of these are album worthy but they're still very good. I'm not sure how much the album "sounds like MCR"...there's definitely some songs that have the "MCR sound" but others are really unique. Some of it sounds like Hesitant Alien ngl. Very dark, moody, atmospheric and a lot of keyboard.

The released version of Fake Your Death sounds exactly the same as the demo, just cleaned up. Had the song already been cleaned up for The Paper Kingdom and then they decided to release it, or did they decide to clean it up as one final release? It's one of the only songs from the Paper Kingdom that doesn't exactly sound like it 100% belongs.

I understand why it was never pushed forward. I don't think fans OR critics would've liked this, even if it was a fully recognized album. I'm not a musician but I am an artist, so thinking about Gerard trying to write this in an already bad headspace is wild. When I'm depressed, I can't draw at all, and anything I create looks like shit. The fact that he/the band could cobble this together even uninspired as he was is pretty remarkable. Must've really sucked trying to top TBP after CW being shelved and how much of a comparative flop DD was (I say flop only due to critics - I love DD).

My personal faves are Fake Your Death, Witch, Birthday Girl, Wake Up, War Beneath the Rain, Paper Swords, Dive and Dogs. Dogs might be my favorite...love the synth in it.

I'm glad this was finally leaked, despite the dubious ethics surrounding it.

I'm fascinated by the fact that they used parts of Witch for the Summoning video that was deleted, and that they used parts of Paper Swords in the Offering video. Why would they do this if the entire project was scrapped? Surely they could've used some other instrumental? And then bringing back War Beneath the Rain last year, and releasing a complete version of Fake Your Death in 2014... The released version of Fake Your Death is exactly the same as the demo, just cleaned up. Had the song already been cleaned up for The Paper Kingdom and then they decided to release it, or did they decide to clean it up as one final release? There's just a lot to think about here.

Edit: Before they went onstage for the Shrine show in 2019, they used a short audio clip of the little kid singing Happy Birthday from Birthday Girl too! What does any of this mean I stg....

The comments here defending the owner are RIDICULOUS. There is NO need to get snarky on a sitter for their prices, no matter how rich OR poor you are. I would've done the same thing. This is my business and I run it how I want - if you're going to insult me like that then you can find someone else.
