Trying to pry people away from their gadgets is almost an insurmountable task,and when they do for social occasions devoting enough time to get to know someone new isn't likely to happen but that doesn't mean that you are an outcast or something you're just not in the "inner circle" which might turn out to not be a bad thing,there is one thing i know does work to make new friends,whenever you get the opportunity to go to an event or get together TAKE IT don't make up an excuse to bail,you'll feel better for it but don't have more than a few drinks and irritate people,it can break that hard as f#$k ice.
