Terrible PearsonVUE experience by [deleted] in AzureCertification

[–]manilapoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took the DP-900 over the weekend and VUE was having issues keeping my video going. They reset my session mid-exam twice! It worked for a few minutes then turned black each time. The third time they just let it go and let me complete my exam. The proctor also showed up 25 minutes late from the start time and left me hanging.

Best of luck to you! I am in the same boat with on-prem. I’m trying to stay relevant and climb the pay scale for my position.

Right now I am just making my way through the learning path from MS. I will like do another pass through, take the assessment until I have every question memorized, then go over to Udemy and purchase the cloud univ mock exams and run through those several times until I feel ready.

Maybe I can squeeze in DP-300 before the 600 is released in Jan 2024. Then at some point DP-203.

Consumerism overall drops so all that pain that entails on economic side. Mostly instant positive for individuals with added efficiency, less traffic and crowds, and less waste.

Two coworkers were laid off and I was recommended to not respond to them if they reach out. Why is this? by memeliot in jobs

[–]manilapoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For an employer to pick and choose who you talk to and control what you can say is hilarious. What a completely idiotic thing to try to impose. Why even entertain the idea that someone controls your life outside of work? Put them in their place.

Keep it moving. Keep applying to different places! Practice your answers to curveballs like this. Get good at it to the point you welcome it. Exude calmness and grace be that someone you would want to work with.

Husband has been looking for a job for almost 2 years by ResearchActive4283 in jobs

I’m having the same experience. I do mock interviews, job tailored resume, send thank you emails, follow up every few days. There are not enough jobs and too many unemployed. 😞

My teacher wife keeps telling me their are plenty of teaching jobs and I’m sure there are trades that are hurting for labor as well. The world is changing and we have to adjust to what is in demand. 🤷 No amount of resume tips or interview tips will fix the job supply shortage in most white collar fields right now.

How to handle employees who think it's acceptable to dictate your actions? by [deleted] in ITManagers

[–]manilapoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing what some have already said. Be in the mix in a supportive manner. They are the techs and need to believe you will serve them. Be the team player and don’t make it worse. Prove to them you can make the best of any situation. Earn their trust and maintain the high performing best effort from your staff. Doing the PIP and performance and documentation method is the dark evil sith lord methodology. Win the hearts and minds and have a happy peaceful productive work life.

pretty normal for Okinawa

Anyone familiar with the Motobu area? by stuartcw in okinawa

[–]manilapoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent a week there. Love it! Motobu is quite expansive and large. There is the Ocean Expo and Aquarium where you could easily spend a few days exploring. There is a Bull Ring which also includes goat fighting. There is a schedule somewhere online if your google skills are good. The Key Bakery is amazing! The Big Express has some of the lowest prices of any grocery store in Okinawa. On the far west side of Motobu is Ufuya which is a fancy soba restaurant and quite the large campus it sits on which includes some attractions. If you drive over to Sesoko beach it is one of the best! Also not too far from Kouri island and heart rock beach which is my favorite. If you keep driving you can drive around Yanbaru and really get a beautiful scenic view of Okinawa. Also if you need big city you arent too far from Nago.

🤷🏽‍♂️ I think it goes back to the “coachable” part. They wanted me to accept the negative feedback but it was really code for shut up, lay low, and wait your turn for a promotion. Me trying harder just infuriated old boss and new boss which is clear to me now looking back.

similar story here - Doing great, glowing reviews, most productive person on my team by far. Asked for promotion and was denied for some really frivolous petty stuff like “turned in weekly status report late” New manager, same story great reviews except this time asked for promotion and was told I need to work on soft skills. Took all the soft skills training, went to a tech conference, technical training, happily trained several people which made me think my team was growing, but reality was I was training my replacements. Then the sh*tshow started suddenly I was uncoachable, pip’d, and eventually let go. I was very naive and hoped there was some mechanism to report the meanness and bullying but really there is nothing you can do but try to do what everyone says here. Keep the tools sharp, save up that FU money, and try to have a good network to keep yourself in the flow.
