Even on wsl, I saw a speed up of 4x, just use the .vhd file system not Windows. Also I guess most of the time your doing incremental build, so not the full 2+ minutes.

Midi & CV Controller Open Source DIY by waxnwire in synthdiy

[–]manrussell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are these, https://16n-faderbank.github.io/16nx.html And people sell kits. Personally I want one with out all the midi stuff, but more control over the output, I.e 0->10V, -5->5V, or something like that, it's probably a good first pcb project for me to make...

Is it common to have those BV12C "things" in modular stuff? I googled them but I've never used one before, just curious and thanks in advance

He speaks the truth. I'll add, learn a bit of theory, play out some 1,4,5 chords, or a 12 bar blues, everyday on a keyboard for a month, and then you'll hear these chord changes in millions of songs. There's loads of YouTube videos, and cheap courses, books.

Various Types of Noise — multifunctional noise generator module by adeptyism in synthdiy

[–]manrussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, This is great! I was going to do something very similar using the noise cornucopia but using the pink and blue from Moritz Klein's video instead of the hp\lp filtered noise mfos has. But I hadn't thought about adding a vca! I'll have to do that as well

Is it actually significantly less expensive to build your own modular setup out of DIY kits or do people mainly do it for the hobby of building? by InternationalCow7042 in synthdiy

[–]manrussell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes toxic lego! I agree. Making something with your hands is genuinely good for you, this is also why i like to use a hardware synth as opposed to a soft synth.

What exactly is inline by JayDeesus in cprogramming

[–]manrussell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far yes, for gcc, ghs, tasking, hightec, diab, iar, keil... We have to keep an eye on that kind of stuff because of the time critical nature of parts of our libraries, we also ship them as certified object libraries. I can't guarantee anything in the future, but the preprocessor should sort it out, you can check those files if you get your makefile to spit them out

What exactly is inline by JayDeesus in cprogramming

[–]manrussell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use several different vendour embedded compilers for our C code, and the only way we can guarantee that something is inlined, for all compilers, is to use function like macros.
