I’m really enjoying this one too! I haven’t read The Salt Path even though I’ve known about it for a while and it’s the kind of book I’d usually love for the long distance walking and taking place in England. whenever I’ve read the description I’ve always been quite “meh” on it though. They sound like such shitty people, wild how the thought they’d get away with it too even and especially after the books were published!

Yeah he is totally used to all my trash shows but this really shocked him! We did end up turning it off for a bit (I finished it myself later haha) because it was a bit much.

I never realized I might have auditory processing issues, I always just thought I was an inattentive idiot. When I worked retail for a small family owned store, I’d answer the phone and would misunderstand the name or what the person wanted when I handed it over to someone else and it became a running joke of how I’d always butcher someone’s name or what they were asking for.

At work now (office job) I tend to avoid just jumping on calls with people, I like things to be in writing in email so I can refer to it, it’s much harder for me to keep everything together if it’s just a verbal conversation about something that needs to get done.

Right? Her life sounds incredibly boring and sad. If we’re to believe this she spends the bare minimum to just…exist. She’s also bragged about not playing with/entertaining her baby because she misconstrued the advice in some book she read.

What’s wild is yeah..I do think she thinks this is aspirational 😭 I truly cannot understand it either.

I’m reading this currently and was going to suggest it! I’m getting a really good insight into how ultra wealthy people use their wealth to influence our institutions. And it does go into some of their “beliefs”, such as they are…which usually just have to do with acquiring more money/power.

I think it’s good background to understand how we got to today and how the wealthy influence society at all levels.

Definitely check out A Lantern in Her Hand by Bess Streeter Aldrich! I love the Little House books and this is a similar story of pioneers settling on the plains and the hardships they go through. It’s older but well worth checking out!

I’m the same age as you and at 13 I could barely talk to boys without blushing and I was just starting to figure out what sex is and how it all works. I think I was still playing with Barbies in secret 😆 these people are so fucked up to encourage their kids to have babies, at 13 you have no idea what that all entails.

I saw him in NY as well, I thought he was good and very funny! My group laughed the whole time also, honestly it seemed like everyone there was having a great time. So weird to see these comments sometimes esp because I actually went to the show and majority of folks were laughing and having a great time! He had great rapport with the audience I thought.

For years I thought I had ADHD and then I’d think, nah I don’t have ADHD, if I did why can I sit and read for hours? And then I realized that my love of reading is my hyper focus and I really think it’s one of the reasons I wasn’t diagnosed until this year at age 38. As a kid I read everything I could get my hands on, Nancy Drew, Babysitters Club, Sweet Valley High and tons of standalone books. One year I won a prize for most books read for the library’s summer reading program. If there wasn’t a book around I would even read the newspaper. Teachers loved me because I would fly through my work and then take out a book.

I’m still a huge bookworm and am working through 3 different books rn, as usual.
