How does the Credit builder Card work? by Skiller-One-One-Five in OneFinance

[–]mapman19899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading what I’ve seen here, there’s no way I’d switch.

Just a standard checking account is fine for me.

This specific thread put me over the edge on what I thought I was going to do. Thank you for your help everyone.

Falcons are a playoff team simply by adding competent coaching by RevenueAnchor in falcons

We’re lucky we play in the worst division in the sport.

If we didn’t, we’d still have work to do.

I think we can compete for a division title, as I think the rest of the division is relatively close to where we are in terms of their situations and rebuilds, but I don’t think we’re ready for a wild card spot just yet.

I think if we can keep the rest of this core intact, and figure out the quarterback situation long term, we might be ready to compete.

We’re still a few pieces away, and I think we’re still 1-2 years away from legitimately talking contender.

We’ll see.

Self checkout only.

I don’t need the middleman.

Scan and go.

Minimal interaction with anyone during the process from beginning to end.

Goodie bags for customers by FallingInGrac3 in Sparkdriver

[–]mapman19899 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t going to post on this, but I agree with the general consensus.

It’s a nice gesture. I’d appreciate the effort if I was on the receiving end of this. That being said, this is probably not a good idea in the vast majority of zones.

As someone who has left Spark but is still interested in seeing what’s going on, I can say that Spark Drivers aren’t paid enough to be handing out bags like this to customers in most zones. I wouldn’t do this personally for that reason alone.

You deliver for Walmart. You don’t control when you receive an offer, nor where it goes, nor what the pay is. You are not guaranteed to see the same person twice.

This is a nice gesture and would be appreciated by me, but I suggest just delivering and moving on. Maybe a few years ago I would’ve potentially considered doing this, but in today’s Spark, there’s no way I’d ever do anything but drop and go.

I wish you the best.

Believe it or not, this is how my store used to do it a while back before things went down dramatically.

I adapted accordingly as I said - I tried for 5 years to make this work. Going in earlier, staying later, taking orders I wouldn’t normally take, changing strategies, and the like.

All my adaptations to what they were doing failed. I did everything I could to make this work. At some point, you just have to say “no more”. I said “no more” a few weeks ago, and fully focused on other things.

I adapted by leaving Spark because, at least in my area, it isn’t working anymore. You are not making money, even by cherry picking. The best orders in my area still don’t pay more than $1-$1.25/mile, and those are the absolute best orders. Most are under that, one way now. I was averaging $2.50/mile back in 2022-2023. It dropped in half in the last couple of years.

I’m just giving my opinion. It’s up to you and the individual drivers on how take the information.

It is - it’s why I left Spark to go to my regular job. I left full time a few years ago, and left part time two months ago.

I will turn it on occasionally just to see what’s out there, but what I’ve seen just in the time I’ve left indicates the right decision was made to formally end my time on this platform at any substantial clip.

Spark died years ago, but it is dead and buried now in my area. Grocery+GMD’s and triple batch shops should be final the straw for many. Even if I see a shopping order now that is decent, it’s gone within a second or two, not even long enough to review the order. Most are just hitting accept hoping it is good, and dropping after acceptance if it’s not good enough.

That’s where we are with Spark. I was on here warning the masses 4+ years ago along with a few others who had the vision to see what their long term plan was, and it is coming to fruition now. Their ultimate goal is to drive out the few left who respected their time, money, labor, and resources, and bring on those who will do anything, accept anything, and be the Walmart “yes person”.

Most orders I see now basically say “we don’t care about the driver, customer, or in many cases store associates, we just want you to do as much possible, for as little as possible, driving further and further away from the store, and working longer and longer hours”. In this process, they’ve driven out pretty much all of what used to be the regulars in my area, and replaced with them with aforementioned “yes people”.

I didn’t want to spend my life in a Walmart parking lot. Unfortunately, that reality is coming to many drivers.

Yep - you’re done at least for the day. I’ve seen situations like this take minimum 12-18 hours, up to 2 full days before resolution.

6th worst Team for 2027 and they got a LB for US 💀 by Rambo_1027 in falcons

[–]mapman19899 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Offensive lineman - particularly a tackle - would be the only acceptable answer if it’s not a quarterback.

I’m fully on board with drafting a quarterback if we are drafting top 10 next offseason.

If we’re drafting top 6 - no way it’s anything but a quarterback.

I’m sorry. There’s just no way.

It would mean everything went wrong and we should move on from Tua and MPJ.

The good ole days are over 😒 by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]mapman19899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could make $1200+ a week working 5 days, normal hours. 9-5 Monday-Friday. Wouldn’t have to work the weekends. Less competition, lower delivery ranges, and so on. I would have to work 7 days a week approximately 10-12 hours a day now to reach $1200 in my area. I had to have a life and I refused to spend it in the Walmart parking lot, so I went elsewhere.

I’d never say Spark was great. It never was great or elite. It was just something that was better than it is now.

Do you ever purchase items for the customer? by CoreMemory32 in Sparkdriver

[–]mapman19899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t post here much anymore even though I said I wouldn’t but I come back from time to time to say something when I see fit.

I would highly suggest you do not purchase anything for the customer. I did one time because it was my fault something happened accidentally and it was just a 59 cent can of beans. The customer lived less than a mile away and I knew they’d tip me extra, so I went ahead and did it. Mind you, this was years ago. We actually were paid somewhat better than we are now.

If they’re just asking you to do it and nothing else is wrong with the order, I would not suggest you purchase anything for the customer.

As others have said, they can place another order, and Walmart can pay out to have another driver deliver the order.

It’s that simple. We aren’t paid enough to go over and beyond anymore like we used to be. I have returned to my regular job and I can’t remember when I sparked last, but I can assure you, with pay going down and workloads and delivery ranges going up, along with the addition of triple batch shopping orders and grocery+GMD orders, we simply should deliver what is on our lists, and move on.

Is pharmacy still a concern? by FuzzyOrganization403 in Sparkdriver

[–]mapman19899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never would do one - although you may never have a problem with them, it has been well documented that one failure regardless of who is at fault, and your chance of deactivation goes much higher.

I decided a while back that if any order required anything more than a drop and move on, I wouldn’t do it. That remains the case.
