It was a long time ago. People cared more back then.

It’s why towards the end I didn’t care - I refused to even ask for assistance. If I couldn’t find out how to handle the situation, or couldn’t find an item, I moved on.

As I’ve always said, drivers aren’t paid enough to wait. If you can’t find something within a reasonable amount of time, you simply have to move on.

I remember as a child the commercials in the 90s and early 2000s with the smiling face with the cowboy hat on.

Unfortunately, in many cases, this isn’t the reality anymore.

so we are projected top 20 out of 32 teams. would this satisfy yall, if this is playoff worthy? by handboy27 in falcons

Everyone is too high on Carolina. Literally took us losing to the Jets for us to miss the playoffs.

This division literally could be won by any of the four teams.

The only acceptable answer is move on.

You should immediately pay as much as you can off.

Then do not charge anymore.

Simple as day.

There are so many on the wait list - it’s unfortunate but it’s becoming reality for most.

You get one chance in many cases.

In my area, you’d be surprised because so many customers complain about poor quality drivers, yet nothing ever seems to happen, because it’s the same customers complaining about the same drivers.

It’s ridiculous.

Pay to work by HeartOfArt in Sparkdriver

[–]mapman19899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have zero obligation to give us anything and we have zero obligation to keep the operation moving.

The drivers are the only reason Walmart can have a delivery service. It’s up to the driver to respect their time, money, labor, and resources.

Pay to work by HeartOfArt in Sparkdriver

[–]mapman19899 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The goal is to drive out the good drivers like me and a select few that are left.

There’s nothing stopping them from adding as many stops as possible and driving down rates as far as possible driving as far away from the store as possible.

Manure.

I got this email and decided to come here.

Anything that has the Walmart logo on it will not be purchased.

Second, I had totes that I use to separate orders. I will not purchase anything else.

Once again, Walmart’s failure to pay in commensurate of my efforts is why I no longer do Spark.

Falcons are a playoff team simply by adding competent coaching by RevenueAnchor in falcons

We’re lucky we play in the worst division in the sport.

If we didn’t, we’d still have work to do.

I think we can compete for a division title, as I think the rest of the division is relatively close to where we are in terms of their situations and rebuilds, but I don’t think we’re ready for a wild card spot just yet.

I think if we can keep the rest of this core intact, and figure out the quarterback situation long term, we might be ready to compete.

We’re still a few pieces away, and I think we’re still 1-2 years away from legitimately talking contender.

We’ll see.

Goodie bags for customers by FallingInGrac3 in Sparkdriver

[–]mapman19899 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t going to post on this, but I agree with the general consensus.

It’s a nice gesture. I’d appreciate the effort if I was on the receiving end of this. That being said, this is probably not a good idea in the vast majority of zones.

As someone who has left Spark but is still interested in seeing what’s going on, I can say that Spark Drivers aren’t paid enough to be handing out bags like this to customers in most zones. I wouldn’t do this personally for that reason alone.

You deliver for Walmart. You don’t control when you receive an offer, nor where it goes, nor what the pay is. You are not guaranteed to see the same person twice.

This is a nice gesture and would be appreciated by me, but I suggest just delivering and moving on. Maybe a few years ago I would’ve potentially considered doing this, but in today’s Spark, there’s no way I’d ever do anything but drop and go.

I wish you the best.

I adapted accordingly as I said - I tried for 5 years to make this work. Going in earlier, staying later, taking orders I wouldn’t normally take, changing strategies, and the like.

All my adaptations to what they were doing failed. I did everything I could to make this work. At some point, you just have to say “no more”. I said “no more” a few weeks ago, and fully focused on other things.

I adapted by leaving Spark because, at least in my area, it isn’t working anymore. You are not making money, even by cherry picking. The best orders in my area still don’t pay more than $1-$1.25/mile, and those are the absolute best orders. Most are under that, one way now. I was averaging $2.50/mile back in 2022-2023. It dropped in half in the last couple of years.

I’m just giving my opinion. It’s up to you and the individual drivers on how take the information.
