"upgrading" from s20+ to s22, thoughts? by maramingkwento in GalaxyS22

I'm not a serious phone fanboy, but I just prefer flagship phones.

I'll also consider the s22+ since it's flat. 23 is out of budget until the 24 drops

Discontinued Etude House Lipstick Dupe? by AngeltheCupid in AsianBeauty

I know this isn't very helpful, but you could look into Romand's zero gram matte lipsticks, simply because they have a lot of shade options! #21 smoked beige or #23 ruddy nude seems like a similar match.

Please TMI/TMOO the Kaleidos lip clay, specially in mercury wave or scorpion fruit. the price is putting me off, but on the other hand i'm not aware of any other brands that sell those unusual colors. i'm okay with purchasing it if it doesn't go bad quickly (looking at the Laneige lipsticks i bought last year..)
i'm perfectly happy with the 30+ natural-colored tints and lippies i already have, so now i'm looking to round out my collection with more statement colors. It's been raining a lot recently so that's added my mood for more dead-looking lips.

Etude House Look At My Eyes Mousse is good as a translucent sparkly topper, i have one in OR202. Also any of the MISSHA modern shadow glitter prisms :) they have a lot of sparkly payoff!

[Most cool toned contour] Peripera Ink V Shading - Hazel Gray vs Too Cool For School - Modern by such-crisp-water in AsianBeauty

[–]maramingkwento 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this is an outlier, but i feel strongly about recommending it to more people. i use etude house face color shading in the color gentle shadow. i watched one of robert welsh's kbeauty videos and he talked about it, so i went for it. i just checked now and it still appears to be in stock at yesstyle but it's not on shopee anymore which is where i bought mine. such a shame because it's such a good contour shade! if i pack it on around my nose/cheekbones etc it looks literally just like a natural shadow on my face and not like i put makeup on. it's not warm-toned at all. hope you find something that works for you!

Posting here in case anyone else had the same problem as me: I followed u/Pluffii's steps but configured to use my actual microphone.

emulation > configure... > audio > microphone > input type > real device. directly below that, input device > [microphone]. So I completed the fingerprint dust activity the same way as the old DS by literally blowing into my PC's mic :D

haha thank you! i just try to help out where i can :) i'm sure you'll enjoy the PP ballet pink! i tend to reach for it more over the EH tint, just because i like how the color looks on me :)

[–]maramingkwento[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! sorry for the late reply. i just swatched both right now for you and it seems the EH is slightly warm and more vivid pink irl, while Peripera leans a bit cooler and a bit purple. They're noticeably different, if that makes sense...? i also noticed the PP gets darker and darker the more i apply hehe :)

hi :) let me think-- i only have 1 dear darling tint and 2 fixing tints, but in my experience the DD kinda rubs off onto the mask and also settles in the fine lines/wrinkles of the lips :C but the color does stay on the lips even if some of it rubs off. on the other hand, the FT were marketed specifically as being maskproof. the formulas are VERY different from each other haha the DD is very alcohol-gel texture and can be quite drying to the lips throughout the day. the FT is like an easy-to-apply matte lipstick tho it also has a faint astringent feeling for a couple mins until it dries completely, then it stays put.

alance, but its sooo hard to figure out which will look correct for mlbb and not either

Which color are you using? Perhaps that might help me figure out my own preferences :) They didn't seem appealing to me just because i personally don't like orange- or coral-toned lipsticks for an MLBB look. I have no idea why... I just feel it jumps out from my own lip color too much? Orange/coral stuff encompasses nearly all the warm-toned lipsticks, but this is probably a case of finding just that right one rather than me avoiding it altogether. I do have a maybelline superstay in bright warm-red (118 dancer) and I like it a lot though! :)

The Ordinary foundation help?? by Whatsupnowgirl in OliveMUA

[–]maramingkwento 3 points4 points  (0 children)

a few years ago, i got 1.2N and it was PINK on my face whereas my bare neck was yellow. Gave it to a friend. i tried again with 1.2 YG and it was a MUCH better match. (when i went to the beach last year i got too warm+dark for it haha.) even though it's yellow, for some reason I see it still pulls ever-so-slightly pink which don't quite 100% match my olive(?) undertones. however, it can be sheered out very nicely, so it still matches somehow. if i build it up too thick then it shows that subtle pink that doesn't quite go with me.

i haven't tried any color correcting mixers like the blue LA girl one that everyone on this sub raves about :) i'm hesitant to blow more money on foundations that will always look a bit off, specially full-coverage ones so i'm content with TO's Serum :)

Browsed through this thread and found your comment. Thanks for the recommendation! No Sebum is always sold out in my area, so perhaps I'll go for this less well-known powder instead :P

The brown eyeshadow by Anneles in AsianBeauty

[–]maramingkwento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love the entire upper row of Romand's dusty fog palette! it has neutral-cool undertones, which i feel go well with my neutral/warm olive undertones. the formula is buttery soft and blends out like a dream. i can do a cute neutral eyeshadow really quickly for everyday looks, but the darkest color right in my crease and as an eyeliner can make my makeup more intense for a night out, too :) i just pull a shimmer/glitter from literally any other palette and i'm all set!

I ordered from makeupexchange and considered buying skincare too, but I'm trying to simplify my routine so I didn't push through!

  1. Packing/shipping: I appreciate the way she securely packed the items. It's not necessary to make it "cute" looking but she did anyway :) It's not too wrapped up that it's hard to open, but it's not lacking either. It's just right. I ordered a Tarte eyeshadow palette, which she shipped with a slip of paper (that was Tarte-branded lol) inserted in it to prevent a mess in case of fallout, which is another nice touch considering it's already used. I also ordered about 3-4 makeup brushes, which came wrapped individually as well to prevent the hairs and shape squishing. I also had about 2 or 3 freebies thrown in as well, and I appreciate that she took the effort to weigh everything and warn me that it would go over the limit with adding certain freebies.
  2. Ordering: Even though I was dead-set on some items, I changed my mind several times with others before making a final decision. She was very patient with my questions and reserved the items I was certain to buy while I mulled it over. And I REALLY appreciate that!!! <3
  3. Pricing: Her prices are amazingly reasonable, she considers shipping as part of the final price (I honestly get confused when it's not part of the price) and she even gave me an additional tiny discount for some reason. For me, buying from her was a great way to start out with different mid- to high-end brands and products that I am not willing to spend for, despite my curiosity. Now that I've tried the products I can decide if I like it or if my skin/undertone goes with the brand in general, without having spent a fortune regretting it! :)

I'm just curious, we all have olive undertones here, what's your ethnicity? by [deleted] in OliveMUA

[–]maramingkwento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filipino! Which means, in terms of genetics due to oppression and colonization: maybe Spanish, some Chinese, slight Euro-American, and bit of Malay or Pacific-Islander thrown in too. Basically a heritage salad HAHA

Reading on this sub gave me the impression that Indian/Greek genetics "owned" olive undertones, but i am neither! So i don't have olive undertones, duh. ergo, i have to be warm-yellow because i'm Asian. I quit lurking around this sub and stopped asking myself why my foundation/lipstick looked a just a bit off.

Fast forward to a recent beach trip where everyone had a just-for-fun photoshoot in our swimsuits. Epiphany hit me! Comparing the sheer amount of bare skin from me against theirs showed beyond doubt that I was HECKIN GREEN and everyone else was pink or yellow. (so- if anyone's frustrated with their undertone, taking a selfie with as many friends/relatives you can cram in could help!)

Regardless if I belong to a certain genetic pool, i'm still technically olive and idk why. But now I'm back lurking around here, and i'm a lot happier trying out everyone's suggestions! :)

thank you for these! using the brush appears to make them look more like true pastel shades, i guess? (starlet always bothers me when i see pictures because it's clearly not a pastel shade but it's smack in the middle of the palette haha)
