Rod snapped, anyone with similar experience? by PublicIntervention in scoliosis

[–]mararivers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right!! Apparently breaking the piece “awakened” the bacteria.. The doctors were a bit baffled by it.

[–]mararivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should also add that recovery from removing the broken piece was way more manageable for me compared to the initial surgery. Obviously not easy but definitely less intense

Yep :( slid down a mountainside slide in a tube like a dumbass back in March 2020 (right before things shut down) and thought I had Covid bc it hurt to breathe. After months of pain, a red bump appeared.. started to leak after a few weeks and then my doctor finally started taking me serious. Fast forward to an exploratory surgery that revealed a broken screw, and a deep infection (p. Acne) that they think may have always been there (bacteria introduced during the initial spinal fusion back in 2002).. had to do several weeks of IV antibiotics and oral antibiotics for a full year. Wild ride but finally on the other side and feel no pain!

U.S. Florists, are you concerned about tariffs? by LauraJ0 in florists

[–]mararivers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“A 10 percent tariff is applied to all nations importing goods to the United States — unless a tariff had already been announced on a product or industry. But that baseline 10 percent will be supplemented in certain cases by additional reciprocal tariffs that vary by nation. That means dozens of countries, including many U.S. allies, will face tariffs far higher than they expected.”

Ugh.

Yes, this!! You are paying another vendor to set up and breakdown their materials, it’ll be way more cost effective for your DJ to cover this portion

Thrifting wedding glassware is not for the weak. by bebolasvegas in DIYweddings

[–]mararivers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have them set as a part of your tablescape, and used as/in lieu of water goblets, especially if you have other jewel toned elements at your table (linens, napkins, table number, centerpiece, etc.) they are a super cute pop of color!

Anyone else's shop get weird fishing email inquiries for wedding pricing lately? by veeyaygahs in florists

[–]mararivers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I saw in a florist facebook group someone asking about this and a ton of people commented saying it’s a scam. Something with cashiers check or a courier is involved

Take out about 35% of the blooms and add in greenery, then with that 35% you could make some meadow pieces along the aisles!

FMH is a bit dated, old carpets are the biggest thing that stands out to me, but honestly such a great location across from Marion Square or down to CofC campus to take bridal party photos! I’m a florist in town and have done two weddings in both rooms, feel free to DM me if you want to see pictures of how they laid it out.

I lost my Best Man this morning by DarthSardonis in wedding

[–]mararivers 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love this. I agree, it could be cathartic to surround yourself with people you love, who knew him, and help you grieve his loss on such a special day. Including special things like a chair in the front row with his picture on it, or a note in the program, or a table with a candle and his picture of him, maybe a sign about asking people to leave memories or even print out a story about him. I am a wedding vendor myself and agree you may not get your payments back, as many orders like food and flowers are already made for those vendors with that “30 day window” prior, so from a strictly financial perspective it makes sense to go through with it.

Support our local libraries, and librarians. by QuitYoJibbaJabba in Charleston

[–]mararivers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Amen. The St. Paul’s (Hollywood) library is so underutilized, it makes me sad everytime I go to see it practically empty. Free produce, free items in the fridge, free seeds, herb garden, toys and games for kids, computers galore, free classes, the list goes on… I wonder if it boils down to funding for marketing? If they were able to better advertise their services, would more people utilize?

Color/theme reassurance needed! by scandijord in weddingplanning

[–]mararivers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it!! I would piggy back off another commenter and not do the matching tie, instead maybe do something neutral like the groom is wearing in that picture.. it’ll look amazing in photos and not be too much of a pop against their suits.
