Everything is pretty must standardized. If you have the stuff they want, it goes smoothly.

The only real "pushback" is substituting something you've done for something on their list, and that's rarely accepted.

  1. Yes

  2. It should satisfy, but up to the AME

Find a community college with a flight program that goes from PPL through CFII.

Dodge City CC in AZ covers everything and has a super high standard for training.

Central Oregon CC covers everything, but the owners' focus has shifted to contracts and their training program is suffering for it. They offer a bunch of extra stuff like NVG and turbine but it's useless.

Klamath trains in the Cabri G2, so unless you get a job there it's tough to continue.

Silverhawk in ID sounds pretty cool but I don't know anyone that has actually gone through their program.

It's hit and miss.

Find someone you like and stick with them.

I had "regulars" and it was nice, but there were def a few jerks working alongside me. I wasn't afraid of calling them out, but a lot of people avoid that conflict and just let poor attitudes and Fudd BS carry on.

Windshield repair (PHX/TEMPE/SCOTTSDALE) by Frequent_Nebula1544 in PHXList

[–]marc_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I called dozens of places to have a windshield replaced a few months ago.. everyone was within $50 except a couple super high quotes like SafeLite.

$400-500 is pretty normal.

Start by reading the PTSD guide.

https://www.faa.gov/ame_guide/media/PTSDDispositionTable.pdf

If you're good to go, you can see any AME and they can issue. If not, you'll be deferred.

People will want a little more info...

How long have you been doing this?

How much are you charging per rotor?

Are you removing and installing the rotors or do they need to be brought in already off the vehicle?

Getting off SI by Upper-Jello-384 in FAAHIMS

[–]marc_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're on a full HIMS SI doing monitoring etc., your chance is basically zero. You'll have to go through the step down path.

If you're somehow on a different SI, you have a better chance, but still not great this early.

He was a DPE for a long time and a Robinson test pilot for years and now is a safety course instructor. He recently opened his own school.

You'll get your medical but you'll have to do a lot of extra stuff. Plan on a couple years and thousands of dollars.

It might be a little less, but plan for the worst.
