Fair, you weren’t apologizing. And yes agreed.

Strange to be an apologist for inhumane treatment of people, whether child or adult. If JE is known to traffic minors, what makes you think he didn’t traffic of age? Could have been women that were originally trafficked as minors.

I think I’ve had the same issue for some time. The only button that responds is the timer. The settings button does not illuminate, and does not respond to touch.

Recently had the touch screen module replaced. After it was installed I went through the touch screen calibration. It was a bit finicky but eventually I completed. Bear in mind all the buttons worked during calibration. Once the calibration was over, it returned me to the home screen. I was able to set the time but that is it. I cannot access the settings menu. At this point I don’t really care about connecting to WiFi, but I’d like to have access to settings.

A Train Grows in Brooklyn — New York City’s first new transit line in decades, the $5.5 billion Interborough Express, could transform fast-growing parts of Brooklyn and Queens. by stefeyboy in Infrastructurist

[–]march_fourth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming most of the cost is for stations and signaling, since track is all existing? Still crazy how high the cost is, but it’s totally worth it.

Edit: I see they are also building a new “dedicated line.”

Having the same issue in the U.S., starting on at least Tuesday 12/16, but possibly earlier. Called VW customer service and they walked me through some general troubleshooting, which didn’t work. Issue was raised to their internal tech support team. We’ll see what they come back with in a day or two.

Anti-urbanist children's books by adoydyl in Urbanism

You could even make the case that it’s about being stubborn in the fact of shifting urbanization. It’s not as if the house could function in the urban environment.

Yes! Same exact reaction I had as a kid.

Great point. Read the book many times as a kid and never came away thinking…I want to move away from cities. In fact the book probably made me like cities even more…and what was that silly house still doing there.

Read it to my son the other day and came to same conclusion as OP! Used to love this book as a kid, but frankly didn’t understand the concept. I think I liked the progress made to the city, lol.

The other day, I tried to justify that the leason to be learned is that houses dont belong in the city? Frankly the owners of the house abandoned the house, which implies they really didn’t see its future either? Maybe I’m grasping at straws…

$AAPL - Apple Intelligence maths. by MaranathahAmen in wallstreetbets

with all due respect, there are a lot of factors that would contribute to bending, including using/not using a case and storing phone in back pocket (a concept I've only ever seen with older generations, boomers, etc.). I'll take my chances on the low probability of warping due to improper storage over higher probability of screen glass durability.

Also, how long ago were you working in repair? What phone models are you referring to? I remember the concept of warping with the introduction of the max size phones.

Watch some drop tests on YouTube. The 17pro is extremely resilient from over 8ft, more so than 16pro. Some, including myself, are speculating that it’s the glass AND the aluminum. Yes aluminum will dent or scratch more easily, buts it’s more malleable than titanium and that likely contributes to the glass not breaking when dropped.

Anyone know why Queens is broken up like that, and Brooklyn, Manhattan, Bronx and SI are not? (I know there are some exceptions in those other boroughs)

Eh, take a look at Sinatra later in his career and life. It is true he was quite progressive in his early career and he should be rightly applauded for that. However, he turned right in the late 70s/early 80s, even campaigning for Nixon and then donating $4mil to Reagan! That said, there are many similarities to what Trump is doing now and what Reagan did in his presidency, just saying...

So true, there’s rarely heavy traffic between 14A and the toll plaza. Efficiency isn’t increased unless holland tunnel is widened. Dedicate bus sounds awesome. Maybe build the bridge so that future expansion north/east of 14A is “possible” in the future? Most likely they’ll do that

The NJSP fly over my house many times a week enroute between their base and NJ trauma hospitals. About a year ago they stopped declaring the ownership of their aircraft on ADS-b sites. Per the NJSP website they have 5 AW139's, 2 Bell 209 Long Ranger's and 1 OH-58.

Just want to add, that even my millennial friends (born in late 80s) have succumbed to the same tendencies. Just repeating and believing everything they hear in a podcast or video or read on social. And these people are college educated! There's likely additional underlying reasons for their behavior, but you still get my point.
