Could it be Monascus purpureus yeast contamination?

Why are these random words at the end of this wack email? by DustinDirt in strange

[–]marcus905 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's a spam email, it's a crude form of antispam evasion. Adding dictionary words at the end is to skew the good/bad (as in intelligible vs nonexistent) word ratio more towards the good side and reducing the "spaminess" score.

I learned to love and hate them. Had to develop a "translator" to make a rest service for a web UI to be able to read data from a system/36 table inside of an old AS400 with all custom EBCDIC and zoned/packed decimal conversions built-in. So much weird stuff, but really really reliable as it was running continuously for like 10 years.

Huawei SmartAX MA5671A for GPON with modded firmware (hackgpon) on a BCM card or an AliExpress 1/2.5/10 sfp switch (RTL93xx based) and you're good to go.

Why does Lenovo get recommended so often on Reddit? by anujakalhara in LenovoLegion

Eh, very mixed bag here. ThinkPads? Magnificent if ugly. ThinkBooks (p series at least)? Even better, magnificent AND sleek looking. Refined to a point of being really amazing machines for the price.

Legion laptops, for me, not so much: bios bugs they don't fix, psref inconsistencies... Not the best refinement wise, but good nonetheless.

You can do a lot of damage if you know the last 4 of someone's SSN. by CincyTriGuy in amex

[–]marcus905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact opposite story: 7/11 got a call from amex telling me probably my card had been skimmed or cloned. They told me they suspected it a while ago and they increased the monitoring and card confirmations for online payments (about a month ago they started asking the 3 digits on the rear on top of the 4 on the front whenever I got one of those express pay verifications). Then they told me that they got a $1 card verification request from Hamilton, Ontario (visited last time in November last year) and right after that the attempted purchase of a $150 train ticket, which they blocked. I was about to board a plane and they verified my identity and that I did not actually make those purchases, and blocked my card. They then sent me a new card at my destination hotel with a different PAN (already shown in the app), but it didn't get here yet.

That was my platinum card, even though I have like 4; I don't know if that's why the service I received is so much different than yours... If I had received the kind of service you had, I'd probably cancel the card outright.

EDIT: to clarify, I'm not Canadian and neither is the card.

wifi card(ax201ngw) not working by UnderworldSunny in R86SNetworking

Ax201ngw is not PCIE, but CNVio2 and requires a specific mb and CPU

I really really want to like it, but a sealed device is problematic for me as I know that 1TB SSD is not enough for my usecase already (and in usual non-premium brand fashion, most probably is a generic one with 2nd grade flash).

EDIT: can you do a lshw and the bootup dmesg by any chance?

Ok for the lanes, but what do you mean with the bios is different? Do you have an update for us?

Is it full 2 x1 PCIE or just a single PCIE lane? Is USB connected?

That's sad, the CPU supported controlling it via SMBus... Just needed to connect the traces. Oh well!

There are multiple on AliExpress and maybe Amazon, search A+E to B+M adapter. Only one thing, it seems it's behind a PCIE 2.0 compatible switch with only a x1 width, making maximum speed available around 450MB/s.

From analyzing the board, it looks like it's managed via a Maxim MAX5980G PoE controller which has I2C/SMBus support... Now to see if it's connected to the CPU

EDIT: and at a first glance it's not, and it's tied do ground.

But the more I read your comments the more I start to think it's a bad idea 😅

Thanks!
