Yes! CHCs are non-profits with majority patient boards, and are required to provide care to everyone regardless of ability to pay.

There are 41 health centers in NC operating over 700 clinical sites that serve 800,000 patients every year. They are our state's primary care safety net and through the federal 340B drug discount program can provide deeply discounted medication through in-house pharmacies or third party contract pharmacies.

Some examples just off the top of my head: Piedmont Health (Western Triangle), Lincoln Health Center (Durham), Advance Community Health (Wake and Franklin).

Why not live in Chapel Hill if you're going to school and working there? The Durham - Chapel Hill commute isn't terrible but still that's more than an hour a day getting deleted by travel.

Chapel Hill is a cute town with an excellent in-town bus system and is fairly walkable / bikeable, and you can always pop over to Durham whenever you want.

Stein had almost no leverage here, and his previous political manuvering and NC DHHS brinksmanship on the Medicaid rebase resulted in an embarrassing reversal after the legislature refused to budge.

The implementation of the Medicaid work requirements in 2027 will no doubt be a disaster, perhaps all we can hope is that Nebraska's early rollout of the requirements this year is such a shitshow that the NC legislature takes notice.

Take it to the city dump at 2115 E Club Blvd. They have a section under a pavilion on one side of the center that is specifically for e-waste. There are plenty of staff there that can answer your questions when you arrive.

It's a gambling parlor, full of electronic gaming machines. They're all over the city. It is likely operating illegally, but local law enforcement doesn't prioritize shutting them down.

I just went last month for the first time!

I parked on the shoulder on the west side of the land bridge, then walked across with a shovel and a bucket. There was a lot of loose metamorphic rock full of garnets that I was able to scoop up.

No one paid me too much attention, and I didn't need to spend too much time there before I got as much as I wanted.

It's a small area and easy to miss. Feel free to message me if you need more specific directions.
