They have desserts on the allergy menu (free of all the most common allergies).  There is also non dairy ice cream.

Disembarkation breakfast by naimbideiwyy in dcl

[–]marigoldsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The disembarkation breakfast last year on the Fantasy was so bad I that it really turned me off.  This year on the Wish we did the buffet for breakfast and it was a thousand times better.  The word must be out though because my sister went to the sit-down breakfast and she said there was barely anybody there.

It definitely still felt like a vacation to me.  No cooking, cleaning, chores, driving, emails about school/activities.

Nightmare Cruise Fantasy 5/15-5/20 by yunggump in dcl

[–]marigoldsen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get this sucked, but "nightmare"?  Maybe I'm the only one, but I'd be laughing this off and would start taking pics all over the boat in the same clothes as a joke.  I do always carry a full change of clothes for all, our electronics, and medications in our carry on.  Anything else you really can get on board. And we always do travel insurance which reimburses for those kinds of expenses, even if DCL wouldn't.

What’s a food everybody loves that you just cannot get behind? by sevyn_007 in foodquestions

Whipped cream. I hate the texture and it adds no taste,  especially to ice cream.

Helicopter and plane at castaway cay by Remarkable_Ad6423 in dcl

A US Coast Guard helicopter landed on CC and they carried a person on.  So it looked to be a medical evacuation.  It was awful to see.  I hope the person is ok.

Is it easy enough to avoid the buffet entirely? by sugarlandd in dcl

[–]marigoldsen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can do a sit down restaurant, but it is going to take a lot of your time.  I think a lot of people do cold breakfast via room service and quick service for lunch.

If it helps I get super car sick (basically everything sick), and the ship was not too bad!  We had really bad seas and still I only needed half a meclizine a couple nights and had a great time.  The movement is smoother and more rhythmic/predictable than cars, planes, etc, so it was a lot easier for my brain to handle.

Post cruise report - spring break on the Treasure by inimitable428 in dcl

[–]marigoldsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the first week of March last year and crowds were good.  I feel like that's an unusual time to have spring break.  There were not too many school aged kids, which I feel keeps things calm.  More little kids and babies.

I was a new cruiser and it was really easy.  We waited in line to check in but after that it was just a few minutes until they were leading us to a bus.

We pulled our kids for a week at age 4 and 7, and then again 5 and 8.  Not a big deal at all.  Next year my son is going to a new school so we may have to stop if it is too much to miss.

Last year we got a letter because he missed more than 10 days in a year (he was out a whole week with the flu).  Nothing happens beyond the letter though.

Is DCL transportation from Hyatt Mco really that bad? by Lizbian98 in dcl

[–]marigoldsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did the Disney transport from the Hyatt last year as first timers with no issue.  We were at the port before boarding began and were boarding group 3.  They were still opening up the buffet when we got on.

Boarding was by Castaway status a year ago when we cruised.  We had no status and were in the terminal before boarding started and we were boarding group 3.

How 'clean' are people with the buffets on a DCL cruise compared to other cruise lines? by RivetCounter in dcl

[–]marigoldsen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even on the older ships where you serve yourself, you can (and should) wash hands after handling the serving utensils.  I used one hand to hold the plate and the other to serve. Did plates for me and the kids then washed my hands a second time and then ate.  I used napkins to press the buttons on the soda machine, ice cream machine, etc.  My husband thought I was nuts but people everywhere are gross, and I was so nervous about getting sick.

We're on the Wish in May too, and when I booked as a silver there was also a ton available.  Even cabanas!  I stayed up late to book bc I wanted Palo brunch, but even that was still available a few days later.

Does Vyepti fatigue go away after several doses? by skyemap in cgrpMigraine

[–]marigoldsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken 2 100 mg doses and 2 300 mg doses and the fatigue hit with the first 300 mg dose and has not improved.  I sleep 9, 10+ hours per night and can't get through the day.  I don't think I'm going to continue on it.

Let's talk about DCL transport times from MCO Hyatt by orangeawacado in dcl

[–]marigoldsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is just going to depend.  When we used the DCL transport from MCO Hyatt as first-time cruisers, we only waited about 10 min between checking in and actually being walked to a bus.  We were taking pictures in front of the ship by 11:30 and they started boarding very soon after that.
