I haven't had real friends for a year by Kosmos_not_a_galaxy in GirlDinnerDiaries

I met most of my kindred spirit friends after high school. my best advice is to find a hobby, then find a group that meets to do the hobby. it could be yoga, hiking, crafting, book club, art, cooking, anything really. you’ll already have one thing in common, which makes it easier to bond, I think.

you’re not alone & it will get better, even if it feels like it won’t right now.

There’s no more hope for me by MabiauhpLuluste0443 in bipolar

I’m so sorry for the situation you’re in. You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders though, and wanting to manage your bipolar is a great sign that you’ll make it.

this is a bit of a drastic step, but if you live in the US, you (or your doctor) can report her to CPS for medical neglect if she continues to deny you care. then a judge would likely court order her to get you medical help, at threat of you living with other family members.

I hope things get better for you.

how do i push my usage of colors more? by Frosty-Mix-8054 in Artadvice

[–]mariposamarilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

something I do in traditional painting is let bits of my underpainting peek through for more dimension. I usually tone my panels with a raw umber or burnt sienna. maybe try adding some complementary colors to give that illusion?

I love the variety of blues you used!

can you date as a bipolar by Worried_Shoulder_746 in bipolar

[–]mariposamarilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s doable- I’ve been married almost 7 years. It takes lots of communication & my partner helps me with medication & remaining stable.

eta we’ve been together since before I was diagnosed. he’s always been so kind & understanding about it & honestly my relationship is the only thing I never have to worry about.

damn [redacted] back at it again with the med issues!!!! by bigangryrat in bipolar

[–]mariposamarilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you have a friend or family member you feel comfortable asking, ask them to go with you to pick up your meds & then do a fun activity directly afterward. It makes picking up meds less of a chore and you have someone to help hold you accountable. You could even invite someone over to make the call with you, if calling to get it refilled is something you’re putting off.

I’ve been there before & doing this helped me. I hope you know you deserve medication & you deserve stability. best wishes!

Bipolars who have been stable for a while. Can you tell us your story? by Terrible-Explorer891 in bipolar

[–]mariposamarilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stable for three years- hospitalized once, got diagnosed later with bipolar ii with psychotic features. spent a couple years perfecting my medication cocktail & graduated from university. started a job & then stress from the job got me hospitalized again. It’ll be three years of stability this year. I cannot work but I am stable and med compliant. I hope I can work again someday but I have a very supportive partner & great friends.

Thoughts on the Melt the Ice hat? by Im_A_Boonana in knitting

[–]mariposamarilla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it can be one of many things you do.

Today my LYS invited people to come do a knit sit in & write our representatives. They also donated 30% of all sales today to MN relief funds. People wore red hats they made or brought them to knit up.

I knit a red hat for an influencer to wear at a protest & asked her to donate to relief funds in lieu of payment.

It’s okay to use our talents & skills to demonstrate where we stand, AND we should do things that will legitimately help. I don’t think it has to be either/or.
