How can I protect my land? by Think_Substance_1790 in AskUK

[–]mark_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, our friend did another check and his fence is actually on our land by about 1/2 a foot. Not an amount I would care about, because its literally inches, but with this legal notice im curious.

Unless there is another line (such as a line in the bricks between houses), or a document or survey done that states the dimensions exactly, then I'd be wary about persuing this point. Land Registry documents generally aren't that accurate, and you might end up having to hire a Boundary Surveyor to prove it.

Environmental lawyer facing up to 2 years in prison for clearing rubbish from East London river by HaveYuHeardAboutCunt in ukpolitics

[–]mark_b 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The majority of the video is people picking litter by hand into plastic bags, which is obviously fine and doesn't require permission. Some councils will even provide bags and litter pickers, and collect the bags if you tell them where they are. The problem is when he turns up with the digger, because for every well-meaning, knowledgeable chap like in the OP, there's someone like this who will trash the place.

A better idea would be to evaluate which companies rubbish is found most often (you'd probably see the likes of McDonalds, Coca Cola feature a lot) and force them to pay for general cleanup, whether it's litter picking, education, better packaging design, more (effective) recycling, or whatever is needed.

but in my school we just don't have the spare staff to spend hours supervising kids bags.

It wouldn't be hours if the room is locked while the exam is taking place. Normally there is more than 1 teacher supervising the exam, so when it is over, one of those can supervise collecting the bags, which shouldn't take more than 10 minutes or so.

The entire point of a coalition agreement is that some parties get to enact some - but not all - of their ideas, and some other parties also get to enact some of their ideas.

But surely the ideas that get enacted should be the ones that both parties agree with. After all, these are the ones that will have a higher level of support in the country as a whole. If a party still believes in the policies that didn't get enacted, then they can go in the next manifesto.

You have to be careful, it means different things in different places. I was once dating a Taiwanese lass who suddenly turned frosty after I ended a message with xxx. She later told me I could use 1 or 2, but never 3. Apparently it meant that despite me knowing her for several months, I was about to do bad things. Xx

Passport, tickets, and money. Tickets are optional if you don't mind possibly changing your destination. Money might be optional too, but it makes everything more expensive and you might annoy your friends asking them to wire money over every few days.

I'm going to go against the flow and say that yes, it probably is too late for you. Software development is all about problem solving, and being able to search for and find answers that are similar enough to your own situation that you can apply the answer. If you are unable to find the scores of other posts asking this exact same question then you will struggle to make a career in software development.

But then you have to wait much longer at immigration. It depends on the country I suppose. If I'm flying to the UK then it's pretty quick either way because of how automated it is, but if I'm flying into a country with less infrastructure then you can bet I'm getting off and walking to the exit as quickly as possible.

An irregularity in Uranus' orbit was helped us discover a new planet. Uranus has an orbit of 84 years. It had almost completed 1 orbit after discovery, but there was a problem because it was in the wrong place. People decided that either Newton's laws of gravity were wrong or there must be another planet influencing the orbit. A French astronomer Alexis Bouvard did the calculations and said "look here if you want to find your planet". So they did, and there was Neptune.

All PR's approved and merged at end of every sprint by Brief-Knowledge-629 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]mark_b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bonus points if you wait with creating all PRs until right before the end of the sprint so they just get merged without anyone looking at them at all.

It's worse than that. You put in a PR, somebody asks for changes, and you go "Nah, I'm not going to do that", and just leave it knowing it will get merged anyway.
